This is a business, not a social club.
If he wants to get a truck, let him finance it and if he wants you to do all the work, then 25% is not unreasonable.
But putting him in a truck that you will end up managing and on top of that finance is a lot to ask, too much to be exact.
I've seen this crap before, the driver gets to walk away when crap gets hard and the loads are getting scarce while you, the owner get stuck with losses.
This is a business, treat it as one, don't do things that make you lose money.buddyd157 Thanks this. -
It’s how I bought my 1st truck
Asked boss to sell it to me on month to month payments.
10%/ Dispatch
His Fuel card
My Insurance
My maintenance
Any issues I needed an advance let’s say. He paid for it and took it off my next check.
Very duable if he is a hard worker on top of his game. Sometimes all people need is a chance. You’re still making money and he’s making money. You’re all good -
thats a rip-off

That's a rip-off

So look at that from another angle, determine how much is your truck worth, than decide what down payment you need ( to be safe), what interest you want.... ACT like a Bank! Don't just give the truck to the guy with less than 5-10K down. -
Like the others said, he may mean well, but if he isn't showing financial responsibility that's not a good sign.
