Makes sense. none of our trailers had air bags. All spring suspension. I can understand dumping the airbags on the trailer but have not figured out the part about dumping bags on the tractor. The weight does not go up on the tractor when dumping.
to all end dump haulers...

Checked out the Wink trailers website. Those things are lightweight... I bet high winds and an empty trailer might be interesting .

I weight will go up on the tractor. When the load goes from the front of the box and to the rear of the box, weight is transfered off the 5th wheel, which means it would be pulling your truck up. The drive airbags will then over extend because of the weight transfer.
Think about a teeter totter. The one side is down and one side is up. If you put a rock on the lower side and start moving it to the other sizde, the once low side moves up. Weight distribution my friend.
So when your box goes up in the air, the bags are inflating as the weight comes off the drives and into the air. As the loads moves from the air bags inflate even more until the load is off the trailer.
Like I said, it only takes seconds, so I do it.. Regardless. -
Just noticed that you're in LA... Lower Alabama... So the potential high wind issue probably wont be as bad as the mid west might have. Either way it will be interesting for sure. I think that trailer would be the ideal setup for grain, sand and gravel hauling. Definitely going to need updates as you gain some real world experience with it.
