Hot oil and working it my pressure stays above 60. Could just be gauge/sender differences though.

I think 50 is fine. I have run them as low as 40 working them. I put an E model pump in this last one, it gets stupid I'm afraid it's gonna break the guage lol

Couple of things that I should point out:
I am not a mechanic, but I am a reasonably competent parts changer. I would have loved to take this on myself (engine work), gone slow, and learned as I went, but I do not have the tools, experience, or facility to do this work properly. I could easily end up costing myself far more that I was trying to save. Folks like @wore out , @snowman_w900 , @OLDSKOOLERnWV , @superhauler , and many others here have learned to do this, and do it well.

I have had the guys at the Cat shop perform numerous tasks for me on both our trucks and heavy equipment. They charge plenty per hour, but they are fair with the time, stand behind their work, and are really interested in working on my older crap. The Service Manager is brilliant, and has a lot of experience with mechanical engines going back to the pre-combustion chamber engines.

I asked them to inspect the timing advance and governor weights, but other that that they did no work on the injection pump. They did pop test my nozzles to make sure they were good.

Sorry to the OP for the interruption, I just thought that I ought to clarify my experience.

I might have missed it, but op says he's wanting to rebuild this B model. Was it the bluish color smoke or was there another reason for wanting to overhaul this one?

Also, I wonder what kinda boost he's seeing on this B model. Like @wore out said, possibly boost leak. Start with the simple things and work up.

Is this an aftercooled or an air to air motor?

    SAR and Oxbow Thank this.

Western States Equipment (Cat) in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Years ago (late 80s, early 90s) I would use the truck shop in Boise (also Western States) and they were fantastic. The Idaho Falls shop is the only one I deal with now though.

Hard to find a good shop that knows a B model, that's for sure

The CAT shop close to me has no one that even knows how to meter time one correctly.
