I put a Cummins 4bta into a 1981 Dodge Ram D150. Currently trying to finish bodywork and paint for next summer.

Well I doubt the wind will bother me too much, I don't just stay in the state. I get up your way some too. I'll keep you posted.

One of the guys I work with explained to me that by setting the trailer brakes instead of the tractor, you prevent the load from pushing the frameless trailer body against the parked tractor when it releases, which can bend the draft arms (the tubes that connect the dump body to the fifth wheel plate) and cause the trailer to tip over. Locking the trailer brakes makes sure the arms remain under TENSION instead of COMPRESSION. It seemed to make sense, as was said, everybody has a different method. This seems to work for scrap metals, that's all that we haul. And we're using 44 ft frameless E-Pak trailers with spring suspensions.

Every load every trailer every situation every driver is different. That's why I never listen when some one tries to pressure me by say "well the other guy did I this way" My response is I'm not a guy, if you want the other guy get the other guy.
