And this is why elogs were mandated. There are no new logging rules. If the drivers can't make the run now with elogs they never should have been doing the run to begin with.

Don't worry. Your in your home every night. And you are not under a load 2000 miles from home, while your grandfather is dying on his deathbed, but tells you to keep trucking. But hey we can't all be daycabbers.

What does that have to do with anything? If you need more time for parking leave at the 12 hour mark, instead of the 13. Or whatever.
No different if you are at the 16 hour mark at the dock and need to then go spend 2 hours finding parking....

Low pay? Speak for yourself. Not all of us are racing to the bottom pulling cheap freight.

Federally controlled workforce? This industry has no more regulations than any other. The only difference is, its right in your face everyday as the labor force vs the labor force being oblivious to the regs.

I was referring to the new system that switches you to driving after 5 mph compared to our Qualcomm we had from 2012 to July 2017. I personally feel that you shouldn’t drive more than 30 miles in a 24 hour period, and that you should have driver facing camera binoculars watching your retinas closely. I mean, it’s about the safety for me, three hour pre trips crawling underneath the truck, tire tread depth checked pre and post delivery, air pressure checked at each stop. Pulling over to answer any phone calls, not driving in any weather but clear and 70 + degrees.

What we need is more ambiguous rules by unqualified people that are appointed to positions by their friends, and we need lobbying groups to use money and influence for what their constituents want.

While I feel for you over your grandfather, that is not a eld problem. That is a company that could/should have done something to help you out.

What’s the real issue? Trucks are still gonna crash. No amount of logging of any type is going to stop that. People will still fall asleep at the wheel and what not.

I’d say megas need to train better. 90% of the time when I see something ridiculous it’s a mega. That’s because it’s the gateway to trucking to most drivers because they don’t want to pay for school.

    Oxbow and Oldironfan Thank this.
