I'm not sure that there is much difference in cost anymore, used to be you could get into a glider for about 70% of a new truck, now they seem to be within 10 g's of each other?
cnsper Thanks this. -
The big savings is no fet tax on a glider, not just the sticker price.Oxbow and Milkman719 Thank this.

Glider may prove to be more reliable .
Justrucking2, Dominion Transportation, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 1 other person Thank this. -
Last year I was looking at one, but it was only $10k cheaper than a whole new truck that gets better mpg's.
So I bought a new one.
In 18 months it has been in the shop for a total of six days for emission related faults.stwik and Getsinyourblood Thank this. -
At 500 a day after expenses that's a 3k dollar hit to your bank account. And when the warranty is up what will those 6 days cost?snowman_w900 Thanks this.

Depends on what the glider has in it. Yellow paint is expensive.
-
Yes,. but yellow paint with out emissions is the cats meow. The reliability is unparalleled.
Pay more in fuel or pay more in repairs. Pick your poison.
Hurst -
That is true. I will always prefer yellow paint to anything they put in a truck today. I've had the pleasure to drive an eccentric assortment of trucks in almost 12 years playing around with these things.blade Thanks this.

If getting a Glider I would look at Harrison Gliders. Fitzgerald Glider rebuild the engines themselves and they warranty the engine vs the manufacture like CAT or Detroit from what I hear.
