I wouldn't hold my breath. A large portion of trucks serving problem shippers and receivers have been on eLogs for many years and basically they don't care - your problem, not theirs. But having said that, lots of places have improved dock times over the past few years.

I looked it up,anyone who uses time cards are exempt .I worked construction got paid by the hour and filled out our times on a production sheet. So I imagine construction installed a time clock.

But I will predict that over the next several months, there are going to be more than a few serious incidents, potentially violent, between drivers and receiving and shipping personnel that will perhaps finally bring the problem of slow loading and unloading to the national forefront. Whether it will lead to meaningful change is anybody's guess.

We have the mandate because the magas wanted to level the playing field. And are better at lobbying (spreading cash around Washington) then the rest of us.

Has nothing to do with safety.

At the minimum your 1/2 hour break should stop the 14 hour clock.....

I am home every night and never use my 11 hour clock up. I usually get the same work done as before, but some days are close........

No more stopping for coffee or ice cream tho. Have to bring it all with me. That makes me less tired I guess....

The op’s original post is pretty much accurate for a local/regional run......

We are getting the egg timers next week. Dispatch asked me in so many words not to quit until they get this all figured out. I think we all know there is going to be a serious income hit, I already figure a 30% haircut off the top. I am already looking at other opportunities, as I am not working for less out here, not with the stress and parking situation. It is just not worth it. I pulled into an old haunt last night, Friday night, and I had to pay for parking. I have never had to do this here, especially on a Friday night. I'll give it six months while working on this other deal and see where we are at. If it goes the way I believe it will, I will be putting the truck up for sale in the Fall. 30 years, and I still had a good 15 left in me. Someone will be getting a good truck.

The reason people say ELDs are good is because driver keep twisting the truth. Why don't driver just tell the truth.

This post should say I run over HOS. I drive a crappy old dirty truck. I run cheap freight. Now I'm mad because am forced run legal and sleep in this crappy truck and guess what ?? I not making enough money because I'm working for to cheap. Let's pretend it's the HOS or ELDs fault.

Why don't all you drivers just man up and stop selling you time so cheap. I'm not on call 24/7 and my time is NOT unlimited. It's 70 hours a week and I'm selling it to anyone who is willing to pay the most money for my time and get me home and has a nice truck.

I don't mind sleeping in this 2017 truck

Folks, this right here is what bothers me the most about this whole deal. The good, experienced drivers that have been out here delivering freight SAFELY for years and years, have been pushed around by the constantly increasing government hand-holding, are finally fed up and getting out. These are the good ones. The ones I want out here when the weather is bad, or when my wife or kids and grandkids are on the highways. The ones you don't have to worry about getting that rig shut down when they pop over a hill and traffic is stopped because they KNOW to watch it, and they don't have their bare feet propped up on the dang dash with ear buds in their head and a phone in their hand.

So maybe they fudged a little on paper. Who the hell cares? Wouldn't you rather have these guys out here than a bunch of kids racing a timer staring them in the face all day every day, driving 20 over in construction zones and thru towns and 30 mph thru the truck stop parking lot so they can hurry and get parked before they get a 10-second violation?

I’m sure you log all that truck wash time and sitting in line waiting to fuel......

The local deal is way different. If I get hung up and my customer ( the only one) is 40 miles from my house guess where I’m sleeping......

Personal convance....... or the 16 hour exception. Whatever.....

    P.S. I ain’t cheap ....:binky::binky:

Driver, I run over my 14 at least once if not twice a week and fudge my log book like a pro. I reposition the truck, I change truck stops because my gut tells me to move. I have parking in one spot but no shower, so I sleep a few hours where I can get parking and then go grab a shower down the road in the morning, sometimes before my ten is up. I am not a machine, and I have been running like this for thirty years. I have a very clean record, own my own truck free and clear, and it is CLEAN with a fresh in framed motor under the hood, new Michelin Steers and New Bridgestone drives, VIRGINS. I just dumped another four grand into the truck getting her ready for winter, and did ALL of the WORK MYSELF in MY DRIVEWAY. I have a new ThermoKing APU being installed on the 15th as mine is giving me issues after 11 years of continual use, her time is up.

My normal week sees me running LESS THAN 1500 IFTA miles a week. I normally do not even leave the State of Michigan. A long run for me is 150 miles, a normal run is 1 to 60 miles. I am not the guy speeding down the road weaving in and out of traffic. I am not the guy catching gears in the truck stop. I am not the guy taking a 30 minute break on the fuel island. And I am not the guy doing 70 through the construction zone. You drive your truck and I;ll drive mine. This is not a cookie cutter industry and I am not a piece of equipment that is meant to be routinely abused by some faceless bureaucrat. You may be comfortable with it, but I am not, I do not need a wet nurse to tell me how to do my job SAFELY and in a professional manner. My family drives out here too, as does yours. None of this has anything to do with safety. You would realize that if you paid attention.

Oh, my pay? I don't give my sheet away, I am paid darn good for the work I do. Rant off.
