Key there being 'size of the fleet'.

Agreed. The name on the side of the door does not define the person behind the wheel. How does one bishe and moan about what's wrong in trucking when you yourself are aiding in its demise?

If the person carries himself with dignity and respect, give him dignity and respect. Period.

While that is logic, that's not reality. Reality is also not simplistic that a load is going to take 30 minutes to pull. That also would not work with flatbed or some other loads, and drop/hook is not always possible either.

I'll make you, feel a bit better. I am one of those old hands. Been out here since '98, seen all the recent changes with HOS, elogs, aero trucks, traffic build up, all that jazz.

And I'm still here. Been on blogs for most of the last five years. Learned to make them work for me. Don't speed, get plenty of rest, work WITH my dispatcher to get my freight moved. Still see what I consider to be decent paychecks ($1,000+ net/week on average).

And thus far, haven't had an accident on the road. Safe, good rep with ALL of the carriers I've worked with.

trucking need to reform its been taking and making drivers and their families sacrifice in some form or another. Long times out on the road to make money is a illusion and probably a things of the past. To flourish in this business takes education, common sense, people skills.courage, and money.

We're using Big Road, on LG tablets, 12 trucks, with AT&T, I'm guessing we're at $1,000/month, maybe more, the boss won't say, but based on the amount of data we're using.

A bulk box of paper books cost what? Exactly billion dollar tech companies lobbied this money grab and its here to stay. Just like high fuel prices and the classic baseline 1.00 per mile.

So less than a hundred bucks a truck. Like I said, if that's going to break you you're just one flat tire from closing the doors.
