I am on my 4th ELD 50 pairing with my TND 740. The location is not connecting from the ELd on to my logs. Rand Mcnally said there is a GPS chip that is located in the ELD 50 but im having a hard time understand why 4 devices from 4 different states is not working.

 

4 different ELD's would not have the same issue. Does Driver Connect on the 740 see the ELD?

Bought an RCA Voyager 3 from Wally World for $50. It's running Android's Marshmellow.

The local TA has the ELD50 for $109 with tax. Got that.

Loaded driver connect on the tablet. Plugged the ELD50 into my truck. Paired but it wanted an internet connection so I made my iPhone a hotspot and connected the tablet.

It updated some firmware on the Eld50. And so far, everything is working.

I'll go get some fuel tomorrow and see how it acts.

So you are not going to have internet to the tablet all the time, only when you hot spot from your phone. I was talking with a friend of mine about this, he said the tablet had to have internet connected all the time. I don't have a clue..

Let us know how that works if you don't mind.

The way I understand it is that I only need the tablet to sync to the ELD when I need to make a notation: Off Duty, 30 minute break, fueling, DVIR, load check. Otherwise, the ELD is recording place, time, moving, not moving.

I'll post tomorrow after I give it a trial run to the fuel stop.

I do have a question about the ELD's clock. Is it tied to the vehicle's clock? Because my truck's clock runs slow.
