You go to jail with big bad Americans
-
I just guessing but no insurance and no DOT numbers would be enough for jail. Plus a big tow bill to get you truck off the road and impounded

Note to drivers: you may wish to check the truck documents on your pre-trip. Standards are low in trucking! You can be fined for missing fuel tax agreement documents. In Georgia (and every other State) you can be fined and jailed for trucking without insurance. It's up to a judge's discretion whether you should go to the slammer. One thing a judge will take into account for possible accommodation in the crowbar hotel is whether you are a flight risk. I would say intentionally driving a Canadian truck illegally in Georgia pretty well qualifies one as a flight risk.

I got dinged in West Virginia for no Bingo stamp years ago. I saw trooper in median and he gave chase. I knew company was up to date and paid for stamp. Asked him how he knew and he told me "because the state has not mailed them out" He was spending the day ticketing out of state trucks. $50 ticket to company which of course they did not have to pay.Dave_in_AZ, BigHossVolvo and Oxbow Thank this. -
When I was at Bison, they did a gate spot check for trailer papers, permit book, CVIP Truck and Trailer, valid plates, ELD card and IFTA stickers/permit. 80% did not have the proper/valid documents, 20% of those had a document missing completely, and 10% of the 80% had no documents (permit books missing, no trailer papers in the holders, no current IFTA stickers, Expired Safety).
When I got my assigned unit, it took me 2 days to get the permit book straightened out, IFTA decals, new plates and stickers.Dave_in_AZ and Jazz1 Thank this. -

check with each state you will be traveling through and ask them the same questions. You should be able to buy the correct "one time " permits to cover all but the insurance and I would insist that THEY buy short term coverage before you leave with all permits in hand.
Any accident no matter how minor without the valid permits means you are automatically at fault.
Being Bubbas new girlfriend even for a week holds no appeal to me!
Any out of service tickets will go against your driving record and will show up for multiple years depending on the charges.
