Congrats! I'm sure you'll be able to fill that time. If you can't and you have a wife/hubby, they will manage to fill it for you!

what spare time? most local jobs are still 12-14 hour days. in addition to getting up at some godawful hour and working 5 times harder than you would over the road. I thought I wanted to work local until I tried it.

Congrats Eckz. I assume that is with the steel mill and our 8 axle trailers?

Quad axle. Romulus Home depot account.

Well, maybe it was with the wrong outfit, then. We are paid .49CPM for EVERY mile DRIVEN. 15 dollars a stop, 10 dollars to untarp (Loads are tarped and ready to go, we just hookup and go where it needs to be, unsecure it, go back and repeat) We're also guaranteed 20.00 an hour detention pay after the first hour, and it's prorated. Meaning that if you were there for an hour and a half you'd get 30.00 And so fourth. I'm also giving away a hell of alot less free time than i was as an OTR driver.

Today, I started at 4am (Harsh, yeah.) But considering that i made 380 dollars and was home by 3PM i can live with that.

It just urks me how theres always a hater out there somewhere, who just HAS to add something negative.

Also Rawlco, we don't do Macsteel anymore, in fact i'm working with the majority of the people from that account. Gardeau bought them out recently, and i believe we will get it back with them after their contract with PGT is up. The guys at the Monroe yard are now the ohio / michigan load planners, and a few of them are doing directions confirmation, and various other duties.

Ron has been known to have a light duty guy in there every now and again doin check-calls and whatnot also.

Some people just hate seeing or hearing about others doing better or being happy. There are good things and bad things about any and every job out there. Point is if it makes you happy then do it. Fook the nay sayers.

BTW congrats and I hope all works well for you, I read most of your posts regarding TMC and it help me in choosing them, and I am in the process now of signing up.

I've never heard of cents per mile for local work. but $.49 per mile isn't bad. $380/day for an 11 hour work day? about $32.50 hourly. that's also about $98,000 a year. not bad at all. are your wages up there tied to the kind of wages the guys in the auto industry are getting? anybody else find these numbers a little hard to believe?
