Actually I was a paper logger for many decades and had to be a caretaker for a aging parent and got this wild hair of going back as a owner op and am looking at all the information so I stay legal.

Now before you guys start telling me that I should have backed up, printed or saved e-log data because ELD apps are not reliable, I wanted to say a couple of things:
1. Please show me the law that requires driver to do so;
2. Garmin E-Log, the app that I was using, is 100% FMCSA compliant, and it says the data could be safely stored locally. I guess all questions regarding the functionality of Garmin ELD should be addressed to Garmin.
3. And lastly, if ELD apps are not reliable, why in the world the government is forcing us to use them?Last edited: Dec 20, 2017

Garmin says that all data is stored locally. Again, this device is 100% government compliant. -
What about having 6 month of logs backed up? What if you lose your phone ? I thought they all had to be backup to the cloud. You need the 6 months of logs data available for D.O.T plus if their was ever an accident they would want to see 6 months of logs. -
Can you hook them things to a computer as they are working to keep all the data backed up, or like using them cards on dash cams pull a card out and download?

The gooberment is made up with rule makers to make rules to fund more rules, it is up to the ruled to figure out how to make it work properly. dang another conspiracy.
