roofing tar, spray on bedliner, lizard skin, dupilcolor

Maybe WD-40, buy a gallon and put it in a pump sprayer and go to town. The WD might or will help repel the water/road chemicals. In springtime give it a good steam cleaning or pressure washing with a degreaser.

Had a friend from Canada recommend , motor oil mixed with diesel , haven't tried it yet but he uses it just like you suggested , mixed 50/50 then spray bottle on undercarriage

I have a friend that does body work and he swears by POR-15. A little expensive but works well.

Sure it wasn't used oil and paraffin wax? It's a home made version of waxoyl which works well on cars up north.

I thing you can by specific paints at auto stores for that. I go to and from work in "beater" pick up trucks that I always paint the undercarriage every couple years with a primer or paint that is on sale and have great results in rust prevention.
