I was called out of my repair shop today by a the New York State police commercial vehicle enforcement dispatcher.
When I got to the scene they had a driver put out of service for several tires low on air pressure.
As I was airing up the tires I ask the trooper how he was making out with the eld enforcement ?
He tells me not to well because although not having an eld is a clear ticketable violation he has no way to write the ticket because the state has not downloaded the violation information in to their computers yet.
This is one of the exact problems why many were asking for a delay of the eld mandate.
Worked the other side of the fence today

I read the same in regards to KY DOT, nothing in the system yet in regards to ELD enforcement. I would say that is pretty much the norm across the country.

The state had 2 years to get ready. How long should it have been delayed for? It could have been delayed for 10 years (and I'm sure made a lot of drivers happy) and these issues of states and eld mfg's still would not have been ready.roshea, Just passing by and 207nomad Thank this.

You miss the point.
The point that many were trying to make was companys and law enforcement were not ready to go yet so a delay was needed.
It looks like they were correct . -
And you miss my point. We could have given a 10 year delay and these issues would have still come up...Just passing by Thanks this.

They could just give drivers a freaken brake till after Christmas , you got to be cold blooded to send someone home with a ticket
-
The point is that in reality you have companys who aren't compliant and law enforcement with no way to enforce compliance.
At this point it doesn't seem like a very effective rule to me. -
They have had log book violations for freaking years.
Log book = ELD= log book
Just write it up as log book violation.
If your paper log is unreadable you get a violation.
If your ELD is unreadable you get a violation.
Seems pretty dang simple to me.DoubleO7, STexan and Just passing by Thank this. -
Just because THEY can't read your ELD doesn't mean you are not compliant with the law. The one I bought, and the way I intend to use it IF I need to plug it in, is a "local transfer" type device...meaning USB or Bluetooth. If they cannot or will not use either of those methods to retrieve the info, HOW IS THAT MY FAULT? My device IS compliant with the federal regs, and that is where my concerns end.Timin770 Thanks this.

And a speeding ticket is the same as any speeding ticket....
No not true a 5 mile per hr over speeding ticket is not the same as a 20 mile per hr over speeding ticket.
Every violation has its own number designation and is weighted differently before a judge.
