Truck lately has been quite lethargic. 16k lbs in a trailer causes it to struggle. Pedal lag. Slight giration in the turbo whistle when bobtail. Truck has aftertreatment and egr "tested". Everything works. Fuel economy has been poor as well.
2013 D13 Low power.

Have the charge air cooler pressre tested. And check the whole system for possible air leaks coming off the turbo.
-
Ok. Will do a drop test on CAC today. I just need to make fittings for the inlet and outlet. Do you know how they do it at the dealership? I was gonna press it up with 30psi of air and watch a gauge to see if it leaks off.
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
I had this turbo lag symptoms 3 times and was bad turbo actuator, about 900$ parts, easy to replace yourself, but
most dealers are going to try to sell you the whole turbo.
Do you still have turbo actuator? From what I know you can't have egr deleted in trucks with vgt. -
I "cleaned" the dpf and the EGR cooler. The VGT still functions.

New code tonight SPN 175 fmi 2. Engine oil temp sensor

Amram you'll need too make, two caps to clamp on each end. Put a fitting on one of the caps to shoot air into. Helpful to have a Guage installed in the set up as you mentioned. Usually putting in 10-15 psi is enough to detect a leak. Be careful on how much you push into it, you're looking for leaks, don't want to create one with excess pressure. If that's tests ok, try inspecting your venturi pipe/egr differential sensor to see if it's clogged.
-
I have the revised venturi pipe. I have already cleaned it and replaced the orings. Sensor ports got blown out with compressed air. Power is poor in low rpms...turbo needle is bouncing and a delay of when it spools up. When I mash the pedal to the floor the truck surges ahead like it found its balls again. Also the exhaust noise from under the hood, including valve chatter, seems to be alot louder than normal. Maybe i need to just get another engine. Idk. Wish I had a Cummins.
-
Truck me, you do not wish you had a Cummins. Their emissions system is far more troubles. And the Cummins bottom end lasts about half as long as Volvo D13.
You sound like you night need injectors or have a fueling issue. Air leaks in fuel lines etc.
Miles? -
610k miles. Definitely have something going on with my fuel tanks. Only one tank is getting fuel pulled from it and they wont equalize even with the fuel caps off.
