My truck just got streched and painted. They started assembly with it now but I don't want any of the weather stainless back on as it looks like crap since its not shiny any more. The breathers are my biggest concern as they are very expensive to replace whats my best option here? Is there a way to polish them so they look near as good as new? Can you get them wrapped in stainless and what does it cost if you can?
The truck will be going in some shows next year so I want it to look good but I don't think I can afford brand new breather right now unless maybe there is some cheaper aftermarket ones or something?
Whats your guys oppinions on this? What have you guys done in this situation?
Heres how she stands now

Thats gonna look awesome when finished, try getting them re plated? You could get them wrapped but on breathers it would look like crap IMO, id take them to a stainless plater and have them re done.
Ontario did away with the 244" limit? I know there are some long trucks running around but whats the deal, i know them milton scales didnt like it much. -
I only haul 48s anyways so im fine with 300wb. its just if your hauling 53s you have to have 244 or less.
What would be considered stainless plating? -
They dip it in acid tanks to strip the old crap off then dip them in new material, never heard of it?
So its only the western provinces that have a 244 limit on everything i guess. -
The breathers are made from stainless steel sheet so maybe your thinking they are chromed or something?
Ya its just out west you can only have 244wb
I didn't know you come out this way 550, you out here much? -
Guess im wrong, thought they were plated sorry.
I use to run toronto 3 times a month from CA, havent been up there by truck in 3 years now, the scales keep me away. -
Now you know what I gotta deal with on a daily basis

They are stupid strict! OOS for things like a crack in the outside layer of a rubber hose that has 3 more braided layers inside? A friend had his trailer confiscated at the one by london on 401 for out of adjustment on brakes and 1 worn tire, wasent to the chords yet lol.
Trailer was worth 2500$ tops so he left it sitting there and bobtailed back to the states, it would've been close to 10k in inpound fees, tickets, and work to the trailer to get it back. Frankly i think he deserved it as he never took care of his equipment.
I remember when them rag heads shut the highway down in milton when one of theirs got busted with a $25,000 ticket. The fines are unreal for a normal working man. -
if you got some time and want to do it your self go to the tool store and get a cloth wheel and some jewlers ruge and hook it to a corded drill and go to town will look as good as new when done
-
I was never able to polish stainless, all the pits from rocks and sand on the cleaners will make it impossible.
