Nope. I'd park it. Let everyone who's going to die go ahead and die. That's why we check the weather. I only got caught once at Snoqualmie, where I chained up. They have chainibg station. Georgia doesn't.spyder7723 Thanks this. -
I ran I84 from Pendleton. I got up early, an ran about 150 miles before sun up. Certainly better conditions than I had run in NJ, PA, OK or any of those states. Once the sun came up and they could see I wasn't chained, I would have been in trouble, so I chained up. I wasn't going to sit there in good driving conditions, just because they required chains. They, however, unlike Atlanta, have places to chain up. -
Push is on up here for drivers to run the ice roads. Seems they leaving it a bit late and can only imagine the idiots they are going hire. Money just is not in it like it used to be. .Company I work for does ice road but only .90 cpm for company driver,,you're working for peanuts at that rate. I sure as hell won't do it,,no friggin way.

had to chain my steers in seatle once, it rained right after a snow, the only way I could get it off the road without sliding off.

Why the hell would you have to chain up in Atlanta? Lol nope not gonna bother with that one...

Best way to chain a tire is to not chain it at all. Park until roads are safe enough to continue without

On a nice warm dry day take the time to put the chains on so you know they fit and how to do it. Then imagine doing that on a shoulder of a road in a few inches of wet junk, wind blowing hard. cars sliding by inches away spraying you if not hitting you, then you just untangled them things and have them laid out and the snowplow comes by and buries you and the chains.

For example, I stopped overnight at wb Huntington, OR scales. I started about 3 hours before sunrise, and ran through the mountains, as the condirions were no worse than driving at home in Illinois. After the sun came up, there were police making sure everybody chained. It was either chain or shut down, but the conditions were no problemo. So I chained and ran. Only time I've chained, and I've run in much worse conditions than that.Last edited: Dec 25, 2017
