I booked the truck when it was empty so they could specifically check batteries and connections since they sit underneath deck on 7, behind cab and are not accessble when it is loaded

NOTHING is an easy job on those Sterlings! Those things are awesome carhaulers, but they are no fun to work on!

Had the same issue. It turned out being how they hacked the first ELD/GPS wiring in. Once I removed those wires off the starter button and ran a hot/ground off the studs beside the passenger fuse panel it was fine. They really did a number on those sterling’s putting that crap in. No more check engine lights either.
Just a heads up. You only use the original system for the WiFi. The new tell tell box handles everything else.Nordiques Thanks this. -
In that, you are correct, was running a binder before the Sterling and the differences are significant

On a difficulty scale to 10 it’s about a 5 and if the bolts are Rusted in becomes a 8 lol Just takes a little bit of strength and a few extensions
-
Keep in mind, Those Ford/sterlings have a solenoid on the driver side inner fender right behind the fender mounted fuse block, Mine Stopped Clicking once I changed it.
And If they Change your starter- I hope they put in a 39mt in there- -
Same with Freightliner M-2, it also has firewall mounted solenoid. Just another thing to fail.
I ran a wire from hot side into cab to a pushbutton - turn key to make it hot, hit button.Nordiques and NuCar Carrier Thank this.
