Made my deliveries in Longview and Fort Worth this morning and then reloaded just a few miles from where I emptied out in Fort Worth. Now, I’m on my way to Columbus, OH. Made it to Mt. Vernon, TX tonight.

At the SLC J doing a 10 break. Got final off 24 hours early this morning instead of tomorrow morning. They decided to run me all the way out to Nampa for pickup tomorrow mid morning for Memphis.

This load will close me out at 7,100 miles for the 2 week pay period (no prior carry-over) after early Monday AM delivery, and more than 40,000 miles for the quarter. Haven't been on my "normal preferred running schedule" in a long time. Getting tired and looking for a place to take a "breather" and maybe accumulate a few bonus hours, but Memphis is not the place. But I've managed to operate well away from, and carefully dodge a few snow events, and should continue to do so for the foreseeable future, so I'll take the hectic schedule.

Elk Mountain was closed last night to light vehicles when I got new hours to roll. I was kind of borderline with 24k pounds and decided to run around through Medicine Bow. It was good running, quiet, and a bit windy with minimal ice, but no doubt much less windy then on 80

The J in West Memphis isn’t a bad place to break. I used to wouldn’t step foot near Memphis until I had to do a repower at the West Memphis J. I was pleasantly surprised!

    Green River UT.
Loaded yesterday near Oakland and made it to the Pilot in Fernley NV.
My load is only 13k and with this light load I don't want to take I-80 to Denver with the high winds all week.

Decided to take a new route I've never been:

    US 50.jpg

Took US 50 from Fernley NV to Salina UT and I-70 to Green River.
There's a high wind warning too for the Georgetown area till the afternoon 3 PM but my delivery appointment is at 20:30, I have a bit of time to wait it out.

US 50 was amazing, not much traffic, made 616 miles in 9:56 hrs. Never in my life I have crossed so many mountain passes in one day, 16 passes in Nevada and a few more in Utah.

    Traffic on US 50:

I wouldn't take US 50 with a heavy load, steep grades with 6% in Nevada and an 8% in Utah.
And if there's a winter weather advisory, don't go there, you will spend more time chaining than driving in one day.
It was definitely one of the most stunning roads I had in 2017! :headbang:

A couple months back, I took a load from Wells to North Las Vegas and was on US50 for a while. I was driving at night though. I know I missed some beautiful scenery.

I'm on the yard in Omaha since yesterday, it's a bit chilly here, last night - 18 degrees.
I'm plugged in and use a small ceramic heater as additional heat source, the APU is not providing enough heat in this cold weather and my bunk heater quit working
If I would be on the road I would have to idle to keep comfortable.
Time to go home, two days ago it was 64 degrees at home

On the way home, they had no direct load to Albuquerque, took a load to Denver and one from there to ABQ. Deliver in the morning and then home. Was nearly 5 weeks out, too long :(
Will enjoy the warmer temperatures in the fifties :)

I’m on my way to Columbus, OH to? Then to Bluffton, IN and then back to drop and hook in Toledo and then drop and hook in West Memphis, AR and then I’ll deadhead home from there for a week of off time.
