So I drive a company truck, 2014 Volvo 670. This truck almost constantly wants a Parked Regen, I'll do one in the morning then 2 to 3 hours later it wants another. So on my 30 min break I'll usually do another. Sometimes I do as many as 3 Parked Regens in 1 day... The only day it didn't call for one I had my foot in the throttle all day to get an extra 2 mph across Nebraska, and Wyoming to try and out run a storm. I've had the company mechanics look it over a couple times but they can't find anything wrong, no codes or any thing. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong? Thanks in advance.

I had a Volvo years back, if you let that bad boy run to stay warm and cool yes it will do it sometime 2 to 3 times a day, even when you are sleeping it will make that buzzer that will wake you up, it sucks but I had the same problem it

I don't run it unless I'm driving... I have an aftermarket diesel bunk heater. I let the engine warm up for about 15 mins at an idle at the beginning of my day, and let it cool down at an idle for about 3 to 5 mins every time I stop then it gets shut down... Except to Regen of course... If it wasn't for having to regen all the time my idle time would be like 2 or 3 percent of engine run time... As it is its like 15 percent. Not that the percentage is a big deal to me (as long as its under 20 percent... Idle bonus ya know) but I hate pulling into a truck stop in the middle of the night and doing a regen while other drivers are trying to sleep.

I get it, tums up for you been considering for other drivers, most Don't these days

Sounds like dpf is getting plugged or exhaust doesn't get hot enough for passive burns eg engine runs too cold, very light loads
Justrucking2 and flood Thank this. -
I had the mechanics replace the dpf and I rarely run less than 70k gross... Most all of my east bound loads are 79k gross... I was thinking along the same lines with the exhaust temp, but I don't know why it wouldn't be hot enough... I know its got me stymied. Thanks for all the replies if anyone has any other ideas please post them. I appreciate all the input.

Doser valve is how old? If more than 200,000 miles on doser get a new one. If your truck is not under warranty perhaps you could dissect the dpf to see if that helps. I'm not a Volvo tech.

Which motor do you have? Cummins or Volvo? How many miles on the truck? When was the Doser last replaced? Is it smoking? If so, what color? Could be quite a few things. I would not run it until it is properly diagnosed. If a Cummins, bad things will happen if not addressed.
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
i had couples reng resquest the other day and that cost me at the dealershipp aroung 5,300 the issues started formo the DPF FILTER need to be cleaned and the egr valve be replaced and the egr cooler be cleaned too.....

in really cold temps the dpf system may not get hot enough to do a driving regen..... and if the wind is hitting the passanger side of the truck it may not even do a parked regen.... it will try but can't get hot enough to fininsh..... I had one that would do that when even the temp was 15 or lower.... now with that said it sounds like the Doser injector is bad
