I need to know the difference in rebuild kits part number r23532565 and r23532558. It's a Fitzgerald glider with a Clark Power rebuild, 12.7 Detroit series 60 engine. When I gave the engine serial number to Williams Detroit for the parts to rebuild it, he gave me the r23532565 parts which I've found out are wrong after 90% of the rebuild is complete. My question - what is the difference between these two engine kits - Williams Detroit and Fitzgerald Trucking don't have an answer.

I cannot speak to your Detroit, but on my Cummins it was different rods. May be the same issue, and I forget what it was all about, something in regards to how they bolt to the crank... I would call Detroit and ask. To bad they do not have a site like Cummins for these questions and parts.
jlk Thanks this. -
I don't know the difference in those part numbers but my rebuild kit does not match the serial number of the engine. Same block can be built for higher hp, and they can use a later model kit for improved parts.

Talked to Williams Detroit and they said the parts they sold me would work but I would lose anywhere from 70-135hp. Do you think it'd be cheaper to contact Pittsburgh Power and buy a power box or cut my losses and start the rebuild over? Williams Detroit will probably not help.

We've had the same issues. We were told the parts these came with were marine application parts. These Clarke engines have been nothing but a PITA.

Don't see a big change in power, maybe smaller injections. HP is controlle by the ecm, tell them to leave it alone, the only thing they need to change in the ecm are the injector trims.
Sounds like you are working with people that aren't fully qualified at what they do. Get it right now or live with it till next oh.jlk Thanks this. -
I would start over. What good will a power box do if the pistons are not designed to stand the extra power.

The problem with adding more power is not the pistons but it needs the cooling nozzles, not included on lower HP models.
