Well on the same day the US ELD was law, Canada announced that Canadian trucks will require ELDs in the year 2020. Too make the roads "safer" ... Glad I stay within 160km, no ELD will be required...

The problem has always been the HOS. The ELD is merely a means the DOT/MOT can finally enforce it. Gone are the days of the supertrucker pulling a 1000 mile shift. Either adapt or get out.

I'm reminded of our provincial govt's purchase of the Phoenix payroll system. There are plenty of threads of failing elog systems. Excellent time for DOT to take drivers to the cleaners!

Just a heads up.. Dec 18 2017 USA is on eld 's . if you run south out of Canada you too must be on eld. there is no soft enforcement. no eld , get a ticket .

Problem here being the HOS, not the ELD. If they didn't enforce bad rules, people wouldn't be complaining at all. They would actually be praising them because of how easy they make keeping track of your available hours.MartinFromBC Thanks this.
