I don’t think many companies will pay for your way back home if you aren’t honest about issues upfront.. but, what do I know? Lol

What company were you with that did this? I had similar situation with JB Hunt back in early 90's. I drove their truck to the nearest terminal told them I was done here's your truck and your loaded trailer. Hopped on a bus went home.

Insurance rules just about dictate everything about our lives. In fact it is a thing almost like death and taxes. With this merry go round we call trucker turnover a lot of the carriers have lowered their standards some. They have to or close up and go home.

I have seen first hand drivers with these histories not hired. However what I have noticed more of these last few years is some carriers are not reporting abandonment as such. This is why I stated in the now locked thread to check what was reported. About 6 months ago while in the hospital I was visited by a young driver I had been helping. Scared he had screwed up. Turns out the carrier listed him as quit and rehire after review. Trucking is changing. In some cases for the better and in others not so. With all the driver mills operating and carriers doing like what Arrow did a number of years ago, the people making hiring decisions are more forgiving of abandonment. As a personal choice I never will.
