Interesting article. Wages not what they were the seats will get filled with green horns.
Texastruck'r and bigjoel Thank this. -
So drivers should trust they would not turn and stab them in the back again if the industry backs off in the future? Gotta love the employers that want reliable people but have no problem doing this crap.

Oilfield will continue to have a shortage
They are volatile here today gone tomorrow.Zaros, pathfinder1361, Western flyer and 1 other person Thank this. -
They burned a lot of people. Its what they deserve. I was smart with my money and actually thrived during the bust while the guy with the house, new pickup, boat, and sand rail is gone

Do you know of anyone willing to train for CDL in the oil patch.? I'm 60 and time is everything. Would like to train in oil and stay there for awhile. Thanks in advance. T.

It's the nature of the game. Everyone knows it. Get in and make your money while it's good. Bank most of it. Then when the rates fall off, either find a different segment of trucking, or enjoy your vacation. If you saved your money like you should have, it won't hurt you either way.RockinChair, SAR, diesel drinker and 5 others Thank this.

There isn't really a driver shortage. There is a shortage of drivers willing to work for minimum wage. Until rates double or triple, I think I'll stay where I am.10speed4me, Tanker312, Utah Ditch and 8 others Thank this.

How does the work look like there? Do they hourly or by the day?

The wages tanked, and they have yet to recover... I was getting $32 an hour when I left ND, burnt out. Did four years up there, that was enough. Paid cash for a truck and have not looked back.
dtmo, rabbiporkchop and austinmike Thank this.
