Seems like a play on words to me. We are forced to do thing we don't want for some jobs if we want them. Like having ELDs put in trucks, it not a new HOS law it just a different way to track HOS and more difficult to cheat. Then drivers want to claim it encroachment on some right or privacy. When it's only the same information we are required to put on paper logs.

    driverdriver Thanks this.

I looked at my old log book , it didn't have a cord attached to my data port , you must have had a newer log book then me , LOL
My paper log couldn't monitor everything and everywhere I did and have been all day .
But you keep posting the same post over and over again , lol
Do you get a dime every time you use those very words "it's the same thing " you just can't cheat , you dastardly outlaw you , man move the needle the record is skipping

All the incidental stuff we do during a normal day... And then on those days you run a quick load first thing in the morning and go park... Rest and catch a nap... And go run another... Now, that other load is not going to happen. Even though you are plenty rested... Lost two loads like that already. Figure $800 net off the top. These were less than 60 mile runs. Not happy... Do that weekly. Why am I out here?

    W9onTime and Oxbow Thank this.

Guy dropped a trailer, took out the landing gear, had to be reloaded on another, all plans changed, I got to pull the rabbit out of the hat.

OK so I left 12 hours or more before I expected to on a trip I haven't made in a couple years or more, to Brooklyn, with a Costco NJ, drop the next morning, then Bensalem, PA to final.

Had to use splits to do it, no other way. So I'm sitting on the OTP at the first service Plaza eastbound after Toledo, and I sat 8 hours, go to leave, and the indicator showed no driving time, so I stopped, on the ramp, checked my figures, and then proceeded 80 odd miles to the second last one before jumping off on 80 east.

Sat 2 hours, completed the split, and then had 8 hours less on duty time, before next mandated break. Darn thing showed that correctly. Major what the heck was that about?

Anyway, I made the trip, no violations, figured.out a few crutches along the way, picked up a Pendot map at the Grantsville rest area on 81, and I'm better prepared now. Not a truck restriction map, either, those are in the house someplace since I hadn't used them in years.

Eroad ELD, and as much as you guys on AOBRD like to claim that you know all about it, well, you ain't seen nothing yet.

In the sixties and seventies that action would seem normal if you were in a communist country. I know times have changed and a lot of drivers were not on the planet back then. Those of us around at that time saw this country go to the moon using a slide rule. The education system teaches everything except reading, writing, and arithmetic. Using a credit card when I go to pay for food is easier than giving cash, as you have experienced cashiers have difficulty making change for cash. Little by little they will take your rights away, I heard this long ago but could not believe it. With J.F.K. at the helm, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” Now a days it’s what this politician will give me is who I vote for. And it is this mind set that fuels Nikita Khrushchev’s idea that Communism will take America without firing a shot. They are encroaching on our rights more and more everyday. If you are not going to do something about it who is?
