    One last try
They have mandated the monitoring device into the truck .
Now they will expand on the monitoring through the ELD platform

    Oxbow Thanks this.

I was told you got the load delivered on time or start looking for another job because on the 3 late load you got fired. So technically you did not have work your log book. Only if you wanted to keep your job.

Part of technology is the ELD and how trucking companies can't ignore the HOS just to keep the shipper happy. It switches the power back to the drivers for the most part. Now the companies will be forced to change they way they treat the drivers and HOS

I understand people doing it the same way for so many years thinking it sounds crazy. Maybe it the 14 hour rule people don't like. I can tell you without that 14 hour rule and paper log. That was the biggest loop hole in HOS. It's simple you could make your paper log book show anything you want. The same thing with the 30 minute break. Maybe it sucks taking that time off, but when you did paper log and worked the log book, having a 30 minute break makes it a little more work. The same think with logging fuel stop. It used to be only the day had to match.

All these little road blocks they put in make it more work for the driver still working his paper log book today. The ELD is now stopping all that. I know everyone runs legal but come on drivers can make 1,600 miles disappear and if the company really didn't care about HOS like back in the 90s they had no problem with that

I say troll to, any answer given doesn't suit him. To be so smart yet doesn't know online status? Kinda hard to believe really.

In his answer he doesn't "see" that recording it electronically is encroachment. Doesn't want to talk about his short comings but wants to point out others. My favorite is "wrong again" with out giving the correct answer.

    encroach.

    the definition is...

intrude on (a person's territory or a thing considered to be a right).
"rather than encroach on his privacy, she might have kept to her room"
    synonyms: intrude on, trespass on, impinge on, obtrude on, impose oneself on, invade, infiltrate, interrupt, infringe on, violate, interfere with, disturb;

the government has, with the eld, figuratively crawled into the cab,or to put it another way,IMPOSED themselves upon the industry, obtruded into it,and is now not just monitoring HOS-which this is directly tied to-but is also recording when and where. doesn't have to be a "RIGHT" to be encroaching.

the HOS are a bureaucratic derived work schedule that is applied universally to all whether it works for them or not. it too was imposed on the industry.

now we see other things beinf considered to be imposed upon us,obtruded if you will. like sleep apnea testing, daily fatigue tests,etc.....

I've been driving over 35 years and have never encountered the scenario you describe , I don't think this ever happened in a widespread way or if it happened anywhere but the coffee counter . Companies have been all about safety for decades , if you tell them your stopping for safety reasons , I've never been pressured to continue

we had some real flaky fly by nite trucking companies up in my area. that which Brandt mentioned happened a lot. i had a number of drivers with similar stories of those companies that later were working for us.

I assume you are not still working for a company that wants you to make 1,600 miles to disappear. Ok went back and see you didn’t just start driving.
