Well What An Experience I Had Over The Last Post On This Company, But Not All Bad. The Good News Is A Meeting And Actually Meeting The Real Company Vice-president. She Is A Person Who Appears To Be Very Professional, High Energy, Good People Person Skills, A Spade Is A Spade Right Up Front Person. With Over 30 Years Of High End Business Skills I Rather Liked Her. So To Retract My Previous Mistake, My Fiance Did Not Have A Meeting With Her That Day But With The Hr Person And Dispatcher. I Must Say They Sure Work These Dispatchers Hard, 30 Drivers 24/7 I Did Have That Verified, And I Thought My Job Was Bad Wow. You All Also Need To Know They Do Read These And Had A Full Copy Of My Statement Last In Here. They Also Highlighted In Yellow Lol Did That One Myself In Getting My Degree. Where Is Free Speach And Being Able To Ask Others For Advice, Understanding And Simply Looking At It As Someone Really Looking For Understanding After Being On The Phone For Hours Each Night Encouraging, And Keeping Someone Going Who Is So Discusted, Tired And Upset Over The Hardships Of The Road. Well I Heard The Words Slander, Apologized And Agreed To Correct The Whole Issue Of The Vice President Issue And Am Doing Just That. However I Still Have Some Real Concerns. First I Had A Really Bad Feeling At 4 Am This Morning. Knew He Was Being Called Into Another Meeting, Now These Go Two Ways, He Is Either Gifted Something Or Going To Be Threatened Like The Last Time. So I Drove Up There, He Had No Idea I Was Coming, But Having Sought Legal Advice On This Issue Has Been Told Not To Go Into Any Meeting With Them Without A Witness Of His Own. He Had Unoaded At 10:30 Last Night, What Part Of 10 Hours Does His Dispatcher Not Understand, Excuse Me If The Spelling Is Wrong But Qaulcom Shows This, Dispatcher Was On The Phone To Him Just Before I Arrived At 7:30 Demanding A Meeting. The Hr Person Put Us In A Conference Room, Then Came In Told Us They Needed A Meeting With Him And Ordered Me To Leave Or Step Out Of The Room, Several Times She Tried To Get Me To Leave, I Refused And Plainly Told Her What The Attorney Advised And I Was Staying As His Witness. Well They Came Out With The Paper And Read It Due To The Post I Put On Here And I Did Fess Up To It Fully, Apologized For The Error Made, We Were Informed There Are Many Happy Truckers There, Some Leave Go Else Where And Come Back. They Want Him To Be Successful Asked If There Were Some Company Items He Needed More Training On, They Would Be Glad To Do This. We Did Go Over Some Of The Things They Do Expect In More Detail About The Tranmitter Thing. We Did Go Over The 48 Hour Home Time According To What He Signed In Agreement. The 10 Hour Break And Not Splitting. Working On A 8 Day Schedule Or Something Of The Sort Which I Need To Get Straight Somewhat Confusing To Me Since In The Manuel I Read 7 Day If Driving 5 Days And 8 If Driving 7 I Think? Some Things I Feel Were Clarified Such As Not Taking A Load If It Puts Him Over His Hours, Stated By The Safety Manager. What Upsets Me And Was Not Clarified Was Being Told He Did Not Have Labor Day As A Holiday Did Not Have A Posted Load On Friday Set Up For That Day Called His 24/7 Dispatcher Several Times In Front Of Me With No Return Call, He Then Had To Call Her Tuesday Morning To See If He Was Working, But He Does Not Communicate With Her? The Other Thing That Confused Me Is If I Read Friday 23 Would Assume It Meant Friday The 23rd, If Stated Friday 2300 Would Know It Means 11 Pm. So Didnt Think To Ask That One To Resolve, My Mistake. Another Thing That Bothers Me Is I Also Like To Write Things In My Own Writing Helps Me To Remember Easier, They Do Not Like Him To Do That For Fear He May Write It Wrong. I Write Notes At Work All The Time, Helps Me To Remember All The Constant Changes On A Daily Basis On My Job. But The Importance Of Communicating On This Transmitter Item Is Important Also We All Agree On That One. I Quess A Laughing Dispatcher Telling You She Forgot About You For 2 Hours, Then Picking Up A Load A 7 Pm And Having Shipping Yelling At You Due To Needing To Be Have Been There At 5pm Not 2300 Is Standard In The Industry And I Worry Too Much. The Hr Lady Had The Sweetest And I Mean Sweetest Voice, Asked Me Why She Had Not Heard From Me Earlier And We Shared Information On How We Sometimes Get Abusive Calls On Our Jobs, Nice Sharing, Good Information. Well I Told Her Very Frankly He Was Concerned If I Called Them And Expressed Concerns About Anything He Would Be Fired. This Man Has Had A Very Bad Year. He Lost Everything In Hurrican Katrina, His Truck Was Not Covered For Flooding, Everything Else But Fine Print No Flooding. Spent This Year Paying It Off. He Also Lost Everyting Else He Owned. So He Does Want To Work. Did He Contact Fema You Bet, Not One Penny From Them, He Doesnt Have Children.
What Have I Learned From All This? My Degree Does Not Count For Much, Everything I Really Learned I Learned In Kindergarten. But I Have Learned Some New And Exciting Things In Trucking, Practical Miles Are The Way The Crow Flies, Give The Truck Some Wings Hub Miles Are Real And Actual Miles As The Wheels Turn. Safety Managers Get Real Red Faces And Really Get Upset, Hr People Have The Sweetest Softest Voices, Vice Presidents Are Real People, They Do Actually Exist. That Big Dot Book Can Replace Sears And Robucks Catalog At The Outhouse. The Real Learning Experience Is I Have Not Lost My Sense Of Humor And Know No More Of Trucking Than I Did Several Days Ago. I Really Thought Maybe I Would Like To Do This As A Team, But Maybe A Stand Up Comedian Telling Jokes About Trucking Is More Inline These Days. Do I Have A Bad Taste About This Industry, Not For You Drivers You Go Through Hell And Back. You Brave People Fight The Company, The Weather, See Accidents You Pray Never Become Yours. I Value Your Dedication, Respect For Others, And Hard Work To Bring Us All The Necessary Comforts We Have Or Need In Life Without You And Farmers We Would Be In Really Bad Shape. I See It Simply And Honestly It Takes Two To Work As A Team Both Give And Take A Little The Rest Is All ######## And I Didnt Buy A Shovel. I Personally Have Worked With Many From Phd's To The Garbage Collector And Know The Smartest Ones Out There Are The People That Work From The Heart, Have Concern For Others, Are The Hard Workers. They Are The Ones That Have True Common Sense. Titles Never Have Or Will Make A Person Smarter Or Right, Corporate Profit Without Concern Has Failed Every Large Corporation Out There Look At Ford. Education Without Common Sense Leads Nowhere. So The End Of This Is, What Did I Hear Today We Will See The Rest Is Yet To Be. I Want To Thank All Of You Who Responded. I See Your Common Sense.

The way I see it is simple, all the companies and drivers out there are under a lot of pressure, add to that shippers or load planners that dont have much of an act together, loads not ready overshcedule of trucks being loaded arriving to find company closed early, told no one lol, what a joke this industry is.

So the DOT book really means nothing, with fuel costs traffic or weather delays all are struggling to make money, including you the trucker. Its a job, just as any other job. What bothers me is the carrot infront of your nose, if you drive legal you compute the hours going through Milwaukee, Chicago, and other areas, the road closures due to accidents etc. They cant pay you a decent wage such as 25.00-30.00 per hour, no profit in that, so you lose hours, someone has to make it up. Driving regional is I think worse and harder than OTR less miles more crap than worth. But then 14 days out and who knows.
So as I honestly see this any company out there is going to go by unwritten rules and driver needs to expect low pay for legal, or push himself to the limit by going illegal most of the time due to no one having it together most days. Simple and honest. Is it worth it to be out there 5 days to have two days home as a zoombie. You need to ask yourself that one. On the other hand not having someone over your shoulder every minute as in factory work which is fast vanishing depends on the personality of the one out there. Team driving makes more sense, not alone, sharing time but 22 hours of constant driving the truck, mmmm.

The quality and life of the privilidged american is gone, lower pay more hours and more struggle is life now. Plain and simple truth.

Mahnoomin Ikwe- the DOT regs may SEEM like crap, but it is up to us, the drivers, to keep them in mind and run by them; because when it comes down to it, WE are the ones held responsible.

So why are we letting our quality of life go down the drain??? I think it is all very simple. We let it happen. It is who we vote for and we don't demand the people of THIS COUNTRY come first. All of our jobs are going out of the country. Why, because it is cheaper for the company. Our laws make it so companys make more money sending jobs to other countries. This country is in sad shape. Companies make more and more and we make less and less. It is our own fault. There is always someone that is willing to work for less so the company can make more. I work for a big union company and it has been expanding in China and downsizing here. Why? Because of the government WE voted for. The company I work for has record profits year after year, but it's not enough. There is always more they can get out of the American working people. We are letting the quality of our lives and our kids lives go down the drain. Sorry I kind of gotten away from John Veriha Trucking. I have no idea what kind of company that is.

Well folks the drama continues, but thank you Creator for the nice DOT man that only wrote the warning ticket that got him fired. Of course they read all of these posts, everything said and done has been well documented in a note book. So if this company wants to follow up on a slander suite against me bring it on you fools, I am more than ready. I do not and have not worked for you, am not afraid of you, and the truth is simple truth. My fiance is now out of their greedy backdealing clutches and the three woman terroizing act at this company. So he got fired it was an absolute no win situation. The miles, time, and loads never computed no matter how you figured legal let alone illegal. I am sure a jury will see reality much more clearly than these idiots who dont know where there loads are, what time they are, or number of miles to get there. They are threatening to sue him for slander, however it has been me who will not be dictated to by these people at all. This is a truckers complaint forum, they have no business being in here using this as a way to badger, threaten and fire anyone for freedom of speach. So just as their rules want drivers to take their ten hour breaks at the shipper with no food or bathroom, let alone good security, as stated in their company policy book, which is illegal by law since they are not paying for the breaks I have the right to express my opinion of them here. If they dont like it, dont read it simple. So miss wonderful personality and the rattlesnake with the very sweet sweet voice read well. My opiniion of you is not good, and well deserved. As for the safety director with the red face and loud voice good show!!!! You see its very simple on a day to day basis those we love out there on the road talk much and often. We hear the discourgement over loads not existing when sent there to pick up the dead head miles for another and we dont think its funny like youir laughing hyena dispatcher does. So sue me go for it, juiries have not had this good of a laugh in a long time. most likely better than a long murder trial, or accident out there created by those worked over the legal limit. I would sugest you give your dispatcher a math lesson on how many hours equal ten. Someone needs to actually read the DOT book I did !! DOT reads their book and are well versed in the suject. Even our attorney read the DOT book. Get with the program. So yes mistakes are made but every week several times looks like a set up to me. To be fired by you is a joke. It really is more of an honor for an honest person going by the laws. er. You see I can add, subtract and figure reality.
you can not go over the top of stopped cars, run over construction workers, or work 20 hour days. It makes sense to me if a company has two locations you need to ask which location a load is at before sending the truck there, that simple. Not hard since this is in your own area, not 4 states away. How do you compute 40 miles to pick up a load and deliver it 80 miles back and say it need to be done by 1:30 when its now 11:30 and wrong location given. Then comes the stop at the scales open on the way, wonderful. But the DOT man did us a favor, actually, very nice man warning not to drive for people like you and get these tickets or liability created by your mismanagement. Interesting he stated every driver has the right for 10 hour breaks to be at a location with food and restroom facilities, so you need to change that page in your hand book which drivers sign. You also need to have driver sign any other agreements made up front that you decide to change. Any other of you drivers that would like to reply to this, having had the same experience with this company we would be glad to give you this attorney's number. So you can just sue me for slander go for it, after all you will have to show all your records.
