As much as you're in Dunkin Donuts, you must look like this on the bike:

If you only get black coffee from there you'll be in fine shape. A slim 220 @ 5'8"
'olhand Thanks this. -
It isn't the coffee, or what I put in it, it's being chained to this #### desk!
-
Yeah, but I wasn't passing up a chance to poke 'olhand with a sharp stick!Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Can't remember last donut I had....really don't care for them...but have been hooked on their coffee since I can remember....used to be one on west side of Orlando that was all but a truckstop back in the day....many memorable mornings there w/dad/grandpa or both....

All you driver touting how awesome it is taking a 53’ into NYC are masochistic to the extreme. You’re not relinquishing your occupation as a truck driver by refusing an NYC load. As a safety conscious driver i’ll Refuse NYC loads every time it’s just not worth the stress.

NOPE. Off you go. Right, there is your paper work, your trailer number is such and such. Go get it. You are late. Get going. No whining.
I spent a life time going through there. No real problems overall, other than what is .. they consider to be normal up there on the cross bronx. You can say I grew up there in my trucking life, I literally did not know enough to be afraid. Baltimore was a good street teacher to me. -
Macho with a 53 foot trailer?
no no no no.. that's not the right frame of mind to be in.
NYC is a living breathing city filled with 10 million people. You go into their area carefully with that 53 footer. There are CERTAIN ... behaviors I DO engage in up there with that semi truck when I get hard and severe dealing with people who are bad and predatory. Especially what's in that trailer. They might want to kill me for it and take that load of medicine. No that's not going to happen.
In my later years I had loads into that area that encountered people who were actually great and nice for once. They were happy to see the rig and it's load and were good hosts with coffee and food. More than nice actually. To balance the bad old days of the 80's where the men and boys were on one side of the square and the girls and women were on the other side for sale. Fast foward to finish with good neighbors with some sense and get taken care of very well.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I have been in Manhattan and Bronx with a 48 refer driving a long nose Pete. Doing multiple delivery.
Suck it up and just do what the others said. Shut off the radio, shut off the gps and pay attention.
