Fmcsa won't transfer a numer anyway, everybody gets a new number, even if they bought an old one and transfered the authority, still get a new number.

If it's a corporation stock purchase then the numbers stay the same. If the tax# is connected to a personal name then the DOT# is new.

As I understand it there's a huge difference in insurance rates for a new MC vs an older MC. I also don't think that's linked to the MC number but rather the age of said authority. Pretty sure this price change has a tangible value... But you're right that it's probably not worth more than low five figures or anything.

Just in case anyone wants it, here is my offer:
. I am 30 years from when I plan on retiring. So for $6,000,000 I will sell my authority that is 10 years old and clean. I will throw in my customers and customer lists as well. And icing on the cake, I will throw in a 5 year old brokerage for an additional $4,000,000.
