Sooo, I was driving along 76 in OH, nearing PA this morning. I ended up in a jack-knife, no injuries, cosmetic damage to truck and I was able to straighten up and drive to next truck stop. It was not pleasant out, but nonetheless it is 100% on me and I certainly learned my lesson. Prime just notified me of my termination, said was too fast for conditions, I don't blame them, I still view them to be quite a fair company and would recommend them to any new driver. I am hoping to land another driving job and are looking for recommedations of jobs, I live in the western New York area (tween Buffalo and Erie). I have about 18 months exp, did have a cpl backing incidents early on and this incident previously stated. I take full responsibility and have certainly learned from mistakes.

These cut some slack on a case by case basis:
    Wadhams Enterprises
    Calex Logistics
    Britton Transport
    TransAm
    USA Truck
    PI&I Motor Express
    Butler Transport
    Roadtex Transportation
    Western Express
    Covenant Transport
    Martin Enterprises of the Carolinas
    Carolina Cargo
Submit online applications before any phone calls. It's easier to be hired when you already have an application on file when you call. Call and say, "I'm checking on my job application."

Glad your okay and it wasnt more serious than this. That can be a rough stretch of interstate up there, especially in the snow and ice.

Alot of comapnies are going to pass on you, mainly because of insurance. You might try craigslist and see if you find something there. Good luck driver. Keep us updated.

PI&I Motor Express is Teamsters Union.

@crappiejunkie mentioned Craigslist; that's a good place to look. One guy on here had 15 tickets and found a good paying job on Craigslist. He said he made dozens of phone calls and left dozens of phone messages and someone hired in a couple of days.

How did THEY Find out about the jackknife? Did you tell them?

The ones we get into we managed to get out of usually and we aint tell the boss *&^% usually. Usually in my experience it's violent and fast to the point of making me consider seriously over a smoke or two if I want to go home to mama and not drive a truck anymore.

There is no point in talking about the truck's doing what it did. But I am thinking you scared yourself a pretty good lesson and that's quite enough. Firing you is excessive.

Yes, that's one of those "Someone hit me in the truckstop while I was inside eating lunch" incidents.

He said there was some cosmetic damage. If its a few scratches might be easy to hide. However, in a jackknife the farings are probably destroyed. No explaining that without getting canned for not reporting an accident.
