That's a tough call is kind of like a crap shoot which is better if definitely change them at 600k that way you get warranty plus if they do go bad after they're changed and cause any other damage to engine or one box that is like extra insurance

I have driven 15k miles after rebuild. Every thing is ok with engine. The guys from Valley Power System-City of Industry, CA did great job. Thanks them.
I parked my truck last night and this morning I saw little pond under truck. Cooling system was almost empty. Few week a go I noticed that metallic pipe that goes between radiator and engine has little rust on it. I was thinking to change it very soon. :) now I am late. There is small hole on that pipe due to rust. I need to pay for new parts 14g coolant.
So if you have original pipe on your truck go to dealer and get updated galvanized pipe with new hoses. its a kit. otherwise you may have same problem that I have.

Since this Detroit DD thread popped up again.......anyone else having issues with their fan belt idlers? Had mine replaced within first year under warranty, and then now again. Only 279,000KM on truck.
Started throwing belts. Bearings were all good. Apparently dealer said they wear the flat pulley faces on an angle and then eventually the belts just walk off.
Said they've even had to "borrow" them off new trucks on the lot because they can't keep enough in stock.

I wish I would've remembered this thread. I just replaced my radiator in November & I replaced all the rubber hoses. I wasn't even offered the kit. Sure wish I would've but oh well. Lol
