Maybe nothing; maybe raise the owners insurance rates if he keeps you. I don't know, just speculation. Anyway, you're hirable for companies around Chicago & lower Michigan and you'll make ok money.Oldironfan Thanks this.

I'm getting sick of north south dedicated contract freight. So we will see.
I'll just take a nap now.Chinatown Thanks this. -
See? Here's a perfect example of where we are today. Someone runs into the back of someone else, which has, in my book, always been the fault of the person who hit the front person, and there must be some way out of this. I don't mean to be harsh, but it's your fault, for following too close, even if there were no brake lights, which I don't believe, you ran into them. If you are sick of a dedicated route, which I'm sure most drivers would kill for, perhaps trucking isn't for you, and a rearender substantiates that. A bigger crash could be next. I'm sure that's how any company will look at this.

DTP, Woodys, Toothpick1 and 11 others Thank this. -
Let's not forget drivers that don't check their sheet out.
Heck. Even I had no brake lights couple weeks back. A end dump warned me. I was 2 miles from plant and when I got back. Blown fuse.
It's not uncommon for trailers with no brake lights. Sometimes, even the markers aren't working.bottomdumpin, Mattflat362 and Big_D409 Thank this. -
Well, considering the overall situation and the developing sickness of the dedicated etc which shows a potential problem, I would probably go find greener pastures else where more to your liking whatever it might be.
Regarding the "Precious DAC" it's paper. If someone says something bad or in error, you can rebut them. Ultimately if you are a decent driver that DAC is a minor annoyance and not a career killer.
Im not your opponet, but for myself not being able to stop is the problem. If HE stops CAN YOU!? We used to have mudflaps that stated if I stop can YOU? Along with the classic left = life and right = suicide in the old days.
Ive had many stops in my time that came out pretty close to taking people out, children in particular is what sticks in me most. It took years for the bad dreams of those events to stop after I stopped as part of my getting better for lack of a better word. It was a intense time.
It is also as a poster stated, a coming day where trucks will decide to stop right here in front of anyone and everyone and people will smash and people will get hurt. All I can say is as long you are driving, add more room between you and them.
I absolutely refuse to drive a truck that has so much electronic nanny this nanny brakes and nanny everything. I am a driver, one of the best and I'll be ###### if a electronic box bosses me 24/7. I got into trucking to get clear of bosses. I don't do well with them. (And I used to be a Boss myself a couple of times believe it or not...)
I think I look forward to finding out good or bad the results of the Owner's decision. fire you or keep you. Who knows. But it is not the end of the world. However I think a little time off might suit you well and make it better. You seem to be fed up over something and that's not a good frame of mind to be in with a 18 wheeler.Wargames, Oldironfan, rolls canardly and 2 others Thank this. -
I think Advance Transport ( remember them?) had those stickers on the rear door, "If I stop, can you?" Also, the flaps I remember said, left "passing side", right, "suicide". We've ALL had close calls, and if you say you haven't, you're full of BS. But the important thing is the old axiom is true, "a miss is as good as a mile", but in all my years, I never ran into the back of anything.

The truck in front of you may have been unfit for the road in the first place. What was the mechanical failure? It's possible that the trailer brakes "cammed over" and locked up, and if the brakes were in that condition, the truck should have been out of service.
rolls canardly and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Doesn't matter if the truck ahead of you was unfit, cows and other objects in the road don't have brake lights, the point is, not to run into anything.rank, Woodys, Blackshack46 and 7 others Thank this.

That reminds me. Down by the red river at night between Ok and Tx the bulls usually got loose and hides were the exact color of pavement and did not reflect light. People have died in front of me in that area when they run into the bull at speed. Some of which are bigger than the car.201 Thanks this.
