    well if you're using someone elses' insurance, it's not really on your own. If you lease onto someone fro 10 years, then get your own authority, you're still considered new venture sense there's no loss history for you to go by

    Not true. If you get a bobtail, not trucking policy in your name, and lease on to a carrier. Get you experience. Then get authority, it is not new, its a policy change. This is a trick I learned.

    no, its a new authority with new insurance. not a change from bobtail. a few might give prior insurance credit but what you're saying is not correct.

    It works, It worked with Progressive, when they were not taking new applicants, my agent had to ream the progressive guys butt. Ive given this advise to others, that it has worked for them.

    That's just some exception that Progressive made for you then.. That's not how it works in the industry. Your bobtail insurance doesn't count with other companies because it's not primary. If you have Progressive bobtail and you're leased on for 5 years ... when you go and get your own authority you will be considered a new venture.

    Yeah some guy told me he got quoted 75k the other day. I guess they must have really taken rate increase.
    There's some other companies, but most likely you're going to be paying around 20k at least
