Another thing about these APUs is almost every state scale in use today will give some allowance before they start writing tickets. Almost all the time the APU weight falls inside this. This is one reason most of the time drivers have not brought this up. And as you said the states are NOT required to honor it.

I no longer drive and trust me my medical issues are my primary concern today. However the main thrust of my comment quoted was the fact there are no real one size fits all solutions when having to deal with a drivers mess. Unless a local driver has picked up a trailer for you most of the time by the time the 2nd drivers gets involved most times the load is further away that it becomes impractical to take it back. If you are that 2nd driver and get stuck with such a mess and you can't fix it you got a problem. This problem is then compounded if you are in a place surrounded by tough almost open 24/7 state scales. The only way to get this fixed is to get your company involved, then watch the pissing contests start over who is going to pay for a 3rd party to fix it, and if you have to remove something off the load where are you going to store it? I once got caught with an overloaded Hershey's load on a repower going from their St Louis distribution center across the river in Ill to Utah. I was at the old truck stop near boonsville Mo. To this day I don't know what they did with the 3 pallets that come off the load. It was the only way we could fix it. I still to this day fail to understand how that load got that far west with no cat scale ticket, driver did not take the time to weigh.

Easy. He knew HE wasn't going to cross any scales, so it wasn't HIS problem to worry about. Selfish, unprofessional, and the absolute epitomy of douchebaggery.

That was a strange situation. I heard the driver quit and left the load there, but I never seen his tractor and I was directed by the head of the fleet masters to drop my empty reefer on that old truck stop parking lot. Give the condition of that trailer and reefer I doubt there was much danger of it getting stolen.

So, what you are saying is that you get lots of loads from JBS Swift in Marshalltown Iowa? Those morons ALWAYS load tail-heavy, CA load or otherwise. Last time I went there for a CA load I was 36,200 on the tandems at 5 holes back, on a 77K gross. I took it back for reloading, and after a nice 9 hour delay, went back to get it and found the landing gear extended to maximum height. This was an obvious middle finger from the yard dog for bringing back their mistake, instead of just running illegal at 10-12 holes back.

I would give them the middle finger back. And tell him if he don't like his job. It's time for him to go work elsewhere.

No, they were just slightly miffed. When you really make em mad you will find the trailer so low you can't back up under it.

And that's when you park your tractor right up in the middle of everything and walk to the office and make them fix it.

Funny, that's what I was planning to do to THEM next time I drop an empty there.
