I fall under several exemptions so do not have to comply, but I have used the Big Road app just to familiarize myself with the system, and thinking it might be easier than paper. It does not work out of cell service, and we spend a lot of time in areas with no service. Perhaps the ELD compliant systems are better when there is no service?

Mine will store the events until it has a connection again or I can use the refresh button to make it update when I see it has cell signal. Been working good like that out in the oilfield boonies.....and up and down the roads......

In fairness, I will complement RMN in their redundancy.

Your account stores data, the cloud stores data and the ELD stores data. The ELD has it's own cellular network connection and the tablet can store inputs and upload them to the cloud.

The problem is the WTF moments.

I had level 3 this morning at NM port of entry (I-40 westbound) . the inspector was an old men. he asked me to email my logs to his email address. few minutes later he said nothing came in. then he asked to show him the logs on tablet. He compared my logs to 360smartview records. He did not ask about device type was used(eld or aobrd or not connected tablet)...

they put your front license plate number in that system and it shows your truck's front side pictures at weight stations or nearby with time and day stamps.

Nationwide program? I know Idaho takes your picture (on 90 at least) Indiana Oregon Washington California. Probably Arizona and New Mexico. Oklahoma at the new big scale on 40. To name a few. I'm sure there's many more. Not that it matters much now with the advent of the electronic leash. I would of much rather kept my paper and they use their cameras to try to track my movements, all I want is small wiggle room here and there nothing egregious.

I think it's a nationwide program paid by our shiny gov and maintained by non profit organization. not all scales are connected to that system. but it's just matter of time. Every thing must be controlled, recorded and monitored !
