If you have your own authority sign up to all the load boards..then negotiate. There is more money there, but you have to ask for it.

I'll look into it but getting payed as a lease purchase driver doesn't sound like a good deal.

How is that working for you?

Specially during 2015-2016 when rates and volume weren't too hot.

Landstar actually has great accounts but they're just not a good fit for me. I think you're thinking of the stuff Landstar puts on their loadboard for outside carries which is double brokered junk for the most part.

Yes, I bought the truck in cash.

The company is a mix of o/o and company guys. They do dispatch their own trucks an Im aware that company trucks come first but that's not my problem. I made great money and I like the people I work for I just feel like I need more control in how I operate my business.

Learning how to negotiate is a big part of why I want to get my own numbers. I want to get the business side of trucking down so that eventually I can scale or maybe invest in something else.

My only problem on buying a trailer and going completely on my own is the paper work transfer, I'm not set up for it while being on the road and waiting for the payments.

    Have you look into factoring?
That may be a good start till you get enough cushion .

Scanning app and quickbooks on your computer. If you're running the road you'd be wise to have a airprinter and scanner app anyway.
