Cummins ISX15

On any modern engine it may be worth it. As long as it covers emissions system as well.

 

I highly recommend you learn the specific ISX models, (870, 871, 2250, 2350). This truck shown will probably have a 2250 or a 2350. If so, they will have the high pressure fuel pump that has a big known reputation gor failing plungers that will break and wreck havoc on your motor. (AND) probably won't be under warranty due to cummins is not warranty'ing any motor failures due to high pressure fuel pump failures.

Then you got, dpf, def and of course EGR. The truck is young enough that the emission system might have not completely wrecked things internally yet. But the fuel pump fail around 300k-400k give or take. So at the minimum your probably looking at getting a new fuel pump in right away just to be on the safe side.

But me personally I would keep shopping.

No problem. A lot of us learned the hard way on these motors. The 870, and 871 are much better motors as far as efficiency and durability. But those too also have a few quirks of their own. One thing that is awesome about owning a cummins is; that you can utilize cummins quickserve online for part numbers, service info , wiring diagrams and etc

 

I have a 2350 ISX15 and the previous owner had the fuel pump shoot through at 360k. It was warrantied by Cummins as they are the ones who did the long block that is in here now. You can call Cummins on any of the trucks that you are looking at and they will tell you if the fuel pump deal has been taken care of or not.

 

Yes. its good to go from what I've been told by Cummins. I have 460k on this truck now and haven't had any issues since I've had it.
