Yup. Wouldn't have it any other way. OTR doesn't pay nearly enough to keep me away from home.

    bentstrider83 and Coover Thank this.

Point is if you are otr you have to PAY to do your own laundry. I think if you are otr arrangements should be made so you can use your fuel card for laundry and I discount on food. The megas have lots of money, they should help the driver pay for expenses on the road. They have the money

You speak my mind? Who do you drive for and what type of hauling? I haul milk tankers and work for Walton milk hauling. Around here there is a ton of milk hauling and companies in that line of work. There is also stone/construction/road salt hauling, did that too and enjoyed it, but it's up and down with the weather. Milk hauling is steady work. I don't think there is allot of local van hauling.

I've done pneumatic tanks, end dumps, vans, flats, and hoppers. Type of wagon doesn't matter to me, as long as it pays well and gets me home. Not much milk out this way, even though I ought to get a tanker to deliver to the house. Go through milk faster than I do propane.

I am in the kinda the same boat as voyager, as in I cannot get anyone to sign me on. A little about me my current job is driving a concrete mixer I have been there for 5 years and I feel as though I have really screwed myself because I haven’t been getting any hours and the company is really starting to force us out.

Now we recently found out that my wife has cancer, which has been extremely stressful on us both emotionally and financially. I need to start bringing in some income otherwise we are really going to be up the creek without a paddle. Now before I drove mixer I ran environmental haz waste over the road for 10 years in roll off trailers, vans, and dump trailers. In that time frame I have had zero accidents and always made sure everything was perfect before I set out on my hauls. I cannot get anyone to hire me because the last 5 years have been in a class B truck and the company’s need 2 to 3 years recent over the road experience. I don’t want to drive mixers anymore because our state is in a very bad place financially and is getting worse by the day. I would really like a home on the weekend type run so I can be with my wife.

Sorry for the long post but any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. I really don’t understand they say no, I am very confident in my experience. But I feel driving a mixer really screwed me I had no idea trying to get back pulling trailers was going to be this hard. It’s also not like your delivering to open fields and warehouses. Driving a mixer really puts your skills to the test, in city and extremely tight areas so I thought I had that going for me as-well. I also have all my endorsements plus twic and passport. Thank you again for any help you are able to give.

We just got the Amazon account in Bethlehem. I believe you are home weekends and if you can swing by during the week. Steelcase is no touch I believe. I helped them out a few times and never touched anything.

Companies have gotten smart to this which is why they spread that sign on bonus over a year. Makes you stick it out if you want it.
