I know a lot of people don't like Loves. I'm not to fond of them either. But they added 2600 truck parking places last year and that's way more than the other guys.
More than 3,000 parking spaces added in 2017 by Big Three truck stop companies

Then many here regularly pitch a fit that the evil truck stops are making too much money and pocketing the profits and not reinvesting .... those new truck stops are just supposed to magically appear here and there for their break convenience.jammer910Z, Steel Dragon and 48Packard Thank this.

I don't know why people hate on loves..I've yet to see a pay to park spot at a loves...
LoneCowboy, swervyjoe, mitmaks and 1 other person Thank this. -
That's what distinguishes a good truck stop chain from a bad one for you? Okay. Good luck with that.
We don't fuel any at Loves and that's one of the reasons why. In our segment, we sometimes need the option of "guaranteed late-night parking". (You call it "paid parking")Steel Dragon Thanks this. -
There should be a special spot..just for you?
HalpinUout Thanks this. -
Give him some slack, he probably can't back into those tight free spots so has to pay for an easy pull through.drvrtech77, Steel Dragon and Coover Thank this.

If my company agrees to pay $12-$15 per spot due to my late night appointment or my hours otherwise flipped out of whack to meet their customer's appointment time(s), you dam right there's going to be a special spot just for me. And if you're in it, I'm going to enjoy interrupting your beauty sleep to roust you out.
That said, I might reserve a spot fewer than 6 times a year but when I do need to, I need to and I'm not going to be the idiot who sleeps on the cat scale, or in a fuel island, or in the main driveway like many here no doubt have no problems doing, most every night.
You "fixed schedule" local drivers are clueless to the realities others deal withLast edited: Jan 2, 2018

I don't deal with reefer bs.
Dispatch gives me multiple stops..but a schedule I can make.
I can adjust my schedule to avoid rush hour through major cities and I drive at night to avoid the ts..and I gladly give my spot to Swift...at midnight!

I have to say, I'm with you on this one, Tex... sounds like my setup EXACTLY.
About 5 or 6 times a year... have to run hard and get upside down.. you can tell you're gonna be at X at 1am and you KNOW it's full at 1800hrs, even the creatives (North Bend WA)... so you get smart and call ahead bc you're screwed if you don't.
I understand the guys that snarl at the idea of "paid parking".. I really do.
But, I also know how expensive these properties are to run and maintain, and I know what percentage of drivers just use them as a spot to park and NEVER drop a dime inside.
I hate to say it, but the day is coming when EVERY spot will be pay parking... you'll need to produce a receipt of valid purchase amount to cover your stay, much like the TA in some places did w the ticket entry of 2hrs free.
Drivers do it to themselves.. especially when they throw used tires and garbage on the ground.Last edited: Jan 21, 2018

Loves is nothing more than a 4 wheeler gas station that put in a few larger spaces and decided to call themselves a truck stop. Never even consider them, although i will have to say a lot of Pilot and Flying J's have bought out tiny places too.HalpinUout and Steel Dragon Thank this.
