We had a driver get banned from an electric motor shop for taking a Playboy magazine from the breakroom and disappearing into the bathroom for a half hour with it. He didn’t get fired or even pulled off that run.

The workaround for the company was anything going there was loaded onto another truck going further down the road.

I got banned from a fertilizer plant because they overfilled me a few hundred pounds and I left. Whatever, they did me a favor. I’m not waiting another 3 hours for them to come around when they feel like it to dump 40 gallons.

They did it three times. I even told them stop at 79k because last time you overfilled me. They didn’t listen.

I’m either leaving heavy or dumping it on your scale.

Just had a co-worker get banned from a pretty easy going customer that my company has serviced for years. All the individual has to do is unload 6200 gallons of oil via gravity drain thru a 4" hose and he couldn't be bothered to clean up after himself if he spilled anything. Then said co worker asked me what the guys problem was, I just had to walk away, common sense isn't so common these days.

we dealt with this kinda crap all the time in the ltl temp controlled world. super valu clocked you in at the receiving window. so if you sat at the guard shack for an hour in line, then got sent to the wrong building, before getting to the correct receiver, you were "late" and a 500.00 fee applied.

i billed them back to the customer every time. i can't recall a time we didn't get reimbursed either.

i don't hold the load up. i just billed it back to the customer.

Lipari Foods will also fire they had a drive get banned from a big 100+ store unit chain of gas stations that they supply and the company had no choice they said there's no way to route someone around one of our biggest customers in the area so they had to fire the person.

This. But also, food service is a very competitive segment (everything is very competitive today) and from management POV, they can't afford to have anyone dealing directly with their valued customers who may or may not cause a customer relations problem tomorrow or the next day. There are some who have "bad days" .... almost every day, and these must be avoided at all costs especially if they're to deal directly with customers.

I know that one I've been in the broadline food service and beverage biz for 3-5 years now. It's very competitive and really customer service is number one. Even LTL and OTR truck load customer service is number one. When ever I go somewhere I'm always polite and friendly to the people behind the window if I'm getting a back haul or what ever makes things go easier all the way around.

Arguing with customers and other people doesn't get you anywhere not really.

Is there more to this story than your letting on something tells me that there is cause it just seems funny how the company would not understand that sometimes drivers are late unforeseen occurrences happen to us all, and that $35 fee is a joke i wouldn't pay it either.
