Just got the new 2018 Volvo vnl 740. Been feeling like I can't keep this rig straight driving down the highway. Recently bobtailed with it and confirmed that when I make a little steering adjustment the rear tires sway. Almost feels like I have a flat tire (I don't lol). Drove a freightliner for 6 years so I thought maybe it was just new tires/truck. Anyone have any ideas?
2018 Volvo rear end sway?

So it's not because my Volvo 2013? It's right from the factory?
-
It could be the tread blocks on the rear drive tires being squirmy when they're new.
It takes a few hundred miles for the tires to break in.daf105paccar Thanks this. -
Air ride steeraxle????
-
Some drive tires when new do that..
You can try lowering air pressure but you'l just have to get used to it..
Had set hankooks drive tires do that real bad when new. Felt like you were on ice . -
Absolutely nothing to do with Volvo.
Brand new tires will squirm ..... Totally normal !!

I noticed same thing when I got my volvo. I thought it was a Volvo thing. I still do because I had a penske freightliner for a month. When I got back in my truck, I noticed same thing right away. For the first day or so. My buddy who has 3 kw'a and a Volvo. Says he always has to get used to keeping the Volvo. Anytime after driving one of his kw's.

This came into my mind also: over past 10 years i spent 50-60,000$ on bs Hendrickson steertek. Sold it, got one with springs shocks only.A buddy of mine got numbness in his hands compressed spine neck surgery :he owned 2x 780s with air ride steer over past 11 years. Could be the cab also, volvo cab suspension is flimsy ,poorly designed.

Snailexpress Thanks this. -
In how many miles does it go away usually?

I have steer tek front axle air ride on my westernstar glider and don't experience anything like what that Volvo is doing in that vid.
Mine rides and drives beautifully.
You can clearly see in that vid that it is mostly the big tall cab doing all the swaying back forth.. I'd say it's a Volvo design issue not the front axle.
How the heck do you spend 50-60g on a front axle ??? I know multiple people with this front axle on there trucks. No problems at all.
Volvo cab air suspention is set up way to soft. It has no stability to it.. bad bad design.
