WTF? He made a claim, and I recall reading something like it very recently. If you dispute the claim say so and look for information to prove it incorrect. Otherwise your response to his claim appears to be a diversion from his effective rebuttal to your crash statistics.
Ziggy, see if you had your hands on the wheel at 10/2, your eyes moving so fast from task to task that you look like a human pinball machine, your truck was centered in your lane within +/- 2mm, and you were looking out for that random event like a car jumping from the ground onto the bridge to cut you off or maybe the unexpected flying saucer flyby, on the off chance the bridge collapsed with you on it you'd have an extra second to start praying before you hit bottom......
And please, quote a source a little more reliable than Newsweek.. like a link to the actual study.
I would have guessed Ziggy keeps his camera within reach where he doesnt have to look for it and is familiar enough with it that he can push a button by feel. I know I know, you cant do it, but everyone has different talents. Personally I know I cant get my panties into as tight a wad as some others, I'll keep practicing though, just in case my life every depends on that particular skill....any tips??
The camera angle lesson was taught in the advanced driving skills class, right after recognizing the I/O button by feel.

I too drive a Swift O/O truck and have not heard anything like that. They did send out a QC message awhile ago saying that they were laying off a bunch of company drivers, but nothing about going all O/O.
[speculation] They are probably just canning the drivers with poor performance, accidents, tickets and such.[/speculation]

Well, if you are a company it just means you need to keep your nose clean and not be too fussy about where the freight takes you.
As an O/O we at least know that the purge(my term) will help keep us moving as freight slows down after the holidays.
I have noticed an increase in swift O/O trucks in the last year, but some of that may be just me noticing more after I went from a company driver to O/O.
I think I read on that pumpkindriver site that Schneider has decided to close most or all of its driver schools. -
Good news if you are in a dark truck stop and the only open spot is a tight one next to your truck and a swiftie just pulled in

Seriously, if they are just getting rid of the riff-raff then it will be good in the long run. Dropping the bad drivers can only be a good thing. Not only will be bad driver be gone but the borderline ones now know they will get canned if they make a turn for the worse.
I just became a Mentor(my first student is snoring right now) and they have made some changes to the mentor program over the last year. They are trying to get rid of the bad ones who just see a second log book and don't care about the student.
Better mentors and bad drivers actually getting canned will have a good effect in the long run.
Of course, if the laysoffs are purely a result freight forecasts then it might be bad news for everyone

That intersection is rather confusing...I caught myself one time going into what I thought was a turning lane at that spot. Plus if I remember correctly, there aren't any overhead signs that say no left turn.
