Their isn't any Canadian rule on pallets however if the load shifted and is leaning on the wall when they check securement .. they will make you rework load and properly secure it ... PS a seal on the door will keep most MOT (DOT) officers from opening the doors

I'm told not to upload the actual copy of the report but here's what it says on the report:
"Cargo not firmly immobilized/secured on/in vehicle. over 8 inch cumulative gap on outside edges of 3074 pound totes of liquid soil stabilization."
He was hauling water, I think and yes. They made him re-do the whole thing. -
This is an Alberta only thing. There has been meetings between the carriers and the provincial CVSE officials of all provinces about what is reasonable. But Alberta is being very anal about it.
And having a sealed load is no protection, they have the authority to enter any commercial vehicle to inspect for load securement. And Alberta is insistent about that too. No matter what, it’s the drivers responsibility.
Perhaps those inflatable paper/plastic load bags that they use between palletized products (new empty beer bottles) and the wall would have sufficed.
And yes, it is a cash grab by a desperate government.not4hire, Zeviander, Justrucking2 and 1 other person Thank this. -
That scale can be really strict! They have a long pole thingee that they run down the side of your trailer and if there’s any bulge at all you get an over width ticket! I used to(used too) haul tires and in the heat they would settle against the walls of the trailer and sometimes bulge out a bit! Won’t haul them ever again across the border! Lol
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
So he had unsecured tanks in a van. If no bulk heads or bracing then they were in the right by regulation.
Now lots of guys haul stuff like that, but technically they are not secured from movement just sitting on the floor with a big gap to the wall.
As mentioned air bags, strapping, or bracing is required for securement.Toomanybikes, driverdriver, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this. -
You're from Saskatchewan? Let's be more friendly. Anal, cash grab and desperate indeed!uncleal13 Thanks this.

If these are liquid filled totes isn't he required to have a tank endorsement also?
driverdriver, 06driver and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Previous company made shippers turn the pallets sideways to prevent product from falling forward,if the product shifted if fell towards the wall rather than onto the floor..#### reefer bs!

New Ruling 2011
Tank Endorsement Ruling Position Paper -
Ive hauled container full of Segrams alcohol to Segrams baltimore from the ship and I can tell you that whole box IS a tanker in behavior. The #### liquid in them bottles are more than the weight of the cab and trailer. No tanker needed then in them days, just a Maryland alcohol license.
As far as scales crapping on pallets this way or that way, I find that excessive. Next thing they start crapping on is our own breathing out Carbon gas or something. Maybe I should apply to welfare due to excessive regulations and micromanagement by a government intent on making a cash cow of any honest labor on the road /sarcasm....DustyRoad Thanks this.
