Cat Wrench Do not worry about Hoffa. I swear he is my old Shop foreman at the first company I drove for OTR that swore ALL TRUCKERS WERE IDIOTS. LETS SEE HERE THESE WERE ALL THE ISSUES I HAD TO FIX AFTER HE HAD WORKED ON MY TRUCK. FORGOT TO REHOOK THE RR BARKE CHAMBER TO THE SLACK ADJUSTER AFTER REPLACING SAID SLACK ADJUSTER. THOUGHT THAT DRUMS CRACKED THRU TO THE OUTSIDE WOULD LAST ANOTHER RELINE. FORGOT TO REHOOK MY AIR RIDE HIEGHT VALVE AFTER REPLACING IT. FORGOT TO REHOOK THE AUTO FAN SWITCH ON A LOW FLOW CUMMIONS. HERE IS THE BIGGEST ONE BOUGHT A REMAN REAR END FROM HIS BUDDY I SWORE THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT FROM THE TIME IT WAS INSTALLED HE WAS LIKE YOU ARE JUST A DUMB FING DRIVING WHO IS BARELY QUALIFIED TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL. BTW I was at the time a ASE Certified MASTER TRUCK TECH. SO I KEPT DRIVING THAT TRUCK WITH THAT REAR END GEAR IN HER ONE MILE PAST THE I-35 I-80 SPILT HEADED WEST IN DES MOINES SHE LET ME KNOW THERE WAS SOMETHING ROYALLY FED UP IN THAT REAR END. SHE SNAPPED THE PINION SHAFT INNER BEARING DROPPED THAT INTO THE RING GEAR SNAPPED BOTH AXLE SHAFTS DESTROYED THE SPIDER GEARS THEN BLEW THE RING GEAR OUT OF THE HOUSING. THE SHOCK DAMAGE WAS SO BAD BEFORE SHE THREW THE INTERMEDIATE DRVIE SHAFT IT TOOK OUT THE THRU SHAFT AND THE ENTIRE FRONT REAR END ASSEMBLY INCLUDING THE AXLES THERE. AT LEAST THAT HOUSING HELD UP. THEN TWISTED THE MAIN DRIVE SHAFT UP TO THE CARRIER BEARING. CAUSE OF THIS CARNAGE THE INNER BEARING ON THE REAR REAR END WAS SET THEY ARE GUESSING BETWEEN 1-10 THOUSANTHS OF AN INCH TO TIGHT THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH OF IT LEFT TO FIND OUT. Foreman was looking for a new job after that one cost the bossman 12 grand to get the truck fixed including a set of 4 new axle shafts front and rear diffs and a new rear housing. If he had bothered to check the SOB out he could have fixed it before I almost laid her over on in the median of the interstate. Luckily when she let loose i was able to get into the rest area right there.

Sorry, guys, I guess I raised my hackles a little much.

It happens sometimes. We are all passionate about what we do. By posting warnings, we can get things out of territory that can get people in trouble.

It is a constant. Almost the same as the 14.7 for gasoline. Those figures are by mass and not volume.
Diesels are quite a bit more flexible in what will burn. The combustion is kind of local to the nozzle spray. Lean is no big deal. Once you go richer you tend to burn the hydrogen off (cracking combustion) and leave some of the carbon unburned.
Thats when you are making power and black smoke.
If you had true stoichiometric combustion, you would have nothing but CO2 and water vapor coming out of the stack. -
The word "DRIVER" isn't anywhere in this post. -
What I want to know is, why is everyone in this world so concerned about what everybody else has, or is doing? If a guy wants to spend $16,000,000 on his truck, who are you to criticize? It's his money and he worked for it, let him spend it the way he wants. I get criticized all the time about the money I spend on my truck, either for looks or better performance. Until you start making my payments and putting food on my table, mind your own business. I think it's cool what these guys do and I'm glad they share their experiences and their rewards or failures, however it may turn out. I also enjoy reading about it on this forum, until someone starts bashing them because it's not their idea of proper business mangement. So what! Just cause you don't agree with it doesn't mean you have to downgrade them. The world will still continue to rotate, even though people like us are being "juvenile" with OUR money.
