I have an ISX and here’s the problem. It has an automatic shutoff and I think I left it running at the shop one day and it shut off and I forgot to turn off the key. So it sat there with key on and I had to jumpstart it this morning after it had been sitting for at least 10 days. Took a while and when it started I couldn’t give it any throttle and it was belching black smoke. This truck has a complete delete with no DEF or egr valve. I’m thinking the batteries aren’t putting enough amps for it to run right but wondering what you guys thought
Cummins ISX issue

Once the truck is turned on, it gets it's power from the alternator...so...that's not the causing the smoke or loss of power. That emissions modification, however, is VERY tricky to get done right on an ISX, but we're not able to talk about such things here.

It’s been running great for over a years since said mods. I’m thinking it’s a battery issue

Sounds like it is over fueling... Who did the programing? Do you still have the OEM turbo, or did they throw on an old Holset? How about the EGR cooler? Removed, welded or plated off? And which Cummins motor do you have? CM-870, CM-871, CM-2250 or CM-2350?
-
Welded, but it’s weird how it just happened after dead batteries....

More than likely that tune is catching up with you. Which motor do you have? CM? Year?
-
2012. Don’t know which ISX it’s in one of my fleet trucks
-
SCR? Does it take DEF Fluid?
-
Sounds like a CM-2250. Do you know about the fuel pump issues and the liners? Any codes?
-
No codes.....ran fine before batteries went dead
