That would be the bootleg way to do it. Although he can't go too far forward or it won't pull enough off the drive to get it legal.

I heard of a hydraulic 5th wheel slide. Just suck it up when you need to.

years ago I remember seeing an enclosed, stinger steer auto hauler that had the fifth wheel right behind the drives, with at least 5 ft of deck above. The trailer was a spread axle, with the axles almost dead center on the trailer, with a really long skinny tongue to reach under the deck of the truck. This would help you get the weight closer to the trucks rear axle, and take less off the front axle. the further the hitch is from the rear axle, the more weight it takes off the front. i tried searching google but could not find any pictures, but i remember them hauling high end Mercedes and BMW's.

All that is true BUT, the more hitch weight you pull off the front and the closer your trailer axles are towards the middle you can/will wind up with a porpoise affect, a wild bucking bronco anytime you go over a hump in the road a bridge abutment etc.

A lot of those units that you are talking about were built by NuVan. I still see one occasionally.

This is a nice rig that passed me earlier. It is built like a stinger but with a flatbed behind the cab and over the cab. 7CA19418-D23C-4437-AC12-31CB392FB618.jpeg 0877075A-0E7C-472A-998E-524FDB82CB5E.jpeg

Stan this was what the rig had, it really looked like a great set up for the right freight.

Yeah Allen that is pretty much what we are going with, no flippers, no Hydros, just drive from one deck to the other
