You ever run into a situation where the weather may be a little bad, but for some reason, EVERYONE is driving like theyre overcome with madness..."Hey theres a bigrig! Let's all die!"
...and your nerves are shot?
Park it. You're done. Brain is getting frazzled. Shut her down and go to bed. Especially if the weather is forcast to clear up. Get up at night and run in peace with the vampire brethren.
You can't always look at the weather to see how bad things are.

I would rather have the driver park the rig than to have to attend his funeral.
Lepton1, x1Heavy and Justrucking2 Thank this. -
I personally have never been in that situation since I’ve been driving in the bad weather forever. It simply doesn’t bother me. That’s probably my youth and ignorance. Maybe I’m the ####### running all you guys off the road

So in other words you just wanted to know where he was in order to have peter contest. If that's all you wanted, why didn't you just say so? I will leave you to it. Six back quiet.snowwy Thanks this.

If you want to call it that, sure. I don’t like that game though because I usually lose. I don’t see why it’s so horrible for me to ask where he was at. How dare I question a trucker on the trucker forum, right?Last edited: Feb 11, 2018

No. It violates Federal OSH Act section 11(c). If they threaten termination for this, they might as well have wrongfully terminated you. Do yourself a favor. Get these idiots putting their threats in writing, then get yourself in writing telling them your concerns of safety. If they tell you to pound sand, sue them. Plain and simple. They did it to you, they have done it to others, and they will continue to do so if they continue unchecked.
That being said, Federal OSHA 11(c) is the Federal act. It would suck to file anything in Federal court, so luckily your state law probably has a reciprocal statute which mirrors that of Federal OSH Act 11(c). The state law usually offers much better legal protection than the broad and more general federal laws.
You asked if it is legal. No, they are retaliating unlawfully by threatening termination. Refusing to operate in conditions you feel are unsafe, is legally protected activity. They cannot retaliate in any manner. This would become a whistleblower case. -
When you crash dispatch aint gonna be helping you.
Why risk it?
You're in control. ####em -
I call them up. Then tell the boss to F off.
Last time he pulled that crap. They weren't even going to be open when i got there. Darn good thing i called and didn't drive up there for nothing. It's the weekend and i'm going home. Not 170 miles to the north to camp out.
He always did that crap when i had an interview. I don't know how he would know but somehow he always knew. Last time i put my foot down and went home. With my phone blowing up the whole trip. -
If Safety isn't helping then it's time to leave, driver.x1Heavy Thanks this.

I have to much invested in this truck. The weather is bad, or I get a gut feeling that says do this or do that. I go with my gut, and when the weather is bad, I park. This is my livelihood and business, this is not a reality TV show. I have nothing to prove to anyone.
