I heard Roehl is not hiring students or grads from other trucking companies because of the difference in their training curriculum. Hard to train someone so fresh out of school to drive the way they want you to drive. Very understandable. They are still taking new students with no prior training.

Well, just brief ad on: I applied with Roehl, after two weeks was approved, and then they told me to call back next year- they are not hiring this year anymore. That was on 11/06' something personal or whatever, I do not know but that was their respond, I did not want to go with Werner ( after waiting three days in Ramada Indianapolis
I give up on them) so I do not know what should I do. Schneidrr guys told me also to call in January, but that will be around 120 days after I got licence...

etch a sketch, Do you get paid your salary if you dont work a minimun per day?
-
Your Dsr turns in your hours, my new one takes good care of me, my first one did nothing for me though. You just have to get the minimum days in but as long as you are avalible for a load and not at home it counts as a worked day

I go for my DOT pysical today for Roehl. Im all set with my NYS lic, I have the "Enhanced" NYS drivers lic so I can cross into canada, I also have my
"metal Coil" endorsment. As per DaWayne I needed these prior to going to Gary on Jan 12th. As for the Pay, I decited to go with the HP (salary) untill I get some time under my belt. According to Roehls web site, they woulnt send me into NYC or Canada untill I have 6 mo's with them, which is fine with me. I dont care where I go to be honest. So the only thing I'll lose out on is the tarping pay. No biggie for right now. -
They say they honor vets. Well i told them i went through a school in nc this year and they told me i would need to attend their school in marshfield wisconsin if i wanted to work for them. i also have been through numerous driving schools in the military since i been since 1994. i have driven tractor-trailers that have more wheels than most people will ever see on the civilian highway. so they say they are for vets i disagree 100%. be safe and happy holidays

I've beem "hired" for about a month know. They checked me up, down and side ways. I went through a local school in my town. This (go through thier school) has not been mentioned to me by the recuriter. I was told, orintation for I think 3 or 4 days. The only thing the HP dose for me is gaureente me is the "salary". And as I said, I want to do for a while so I can gain some valuble experiance and make a few bucks in that time. I've spoke to a ton of companies and recuriters. I feel Roehl has been the most up company I've delt with. Anyway, Im opened minded about this whole thing, Im a newbie, I only wish to be treated fair, not special.
schlepper004 Thanks this. -
I think they bend their Canada trip policy at will. When I was in my truck for only a month and a half after getting off training truck, I started getting repeated Canadian loads going to the Toronto area. When asked about the 6 month deal was told "that's all we have for you."
Also routed across GW bridge through the Bronx my 2nd week on my own truck out of training going to and from Tewksbury, Mass. to drop a load and pick another up going back south down I-95. I crossed that bridge alot with Roehl my first few months out on my own, lol! Be careful about believing everything you hear or read. -
Really? Did they mention that they'd put you through their training for free as a vet?
I never knew about the 6-month Canada thing. Heck, I went through Canada with my trainer, then once or twice during my evo 3. -
yeah, according to Roehl policy, you are not supposed to go to Canada during your Evils.
