Word around the road is freight is down nationwide. Slower for Werner also. I recently completed training with Werner and was told I will be sent home LOA from 3 to 5 weeks. So for 3 to 5 weeks I will get no pay check.

    cpassey Thanks this.

    Nope nothing yet.

You should ask the recruiter about the million milers they are firing over the slightest reason and how you as a student can be assured of job stability when people whom have worked 10+ safe years can't be assured of such ;)

The Werner recruiter came through my school yesterday and painted a very rosy picture but when I started asking the tough questions he had a hard time giving a straight answer. I asked about the fact that new drivers coming out of orientation were sitting for days if not weeks for a trainer. He said hadn't heard anything about that and was surprised. He pushed the fact that you can be trainer after 3 months on the road. 3 MONTHS! C-mon, I know there is no way anyone would be ready to be trainer after 3 months and I am man enough to admit that is just crazy to think I would be ready to train after only 3 months.

cpassey, Like you I was looking at Werner but the bad outweighs the good from what I can see. I would go with Gordon, I am. You can't find anything bad about them out there. "No Pay May" from what I here is an average option, not the worse not the best.

I will be at orientation for Gordon after the first of the year and looking forward to it.

Always remember there are 3 sides to each story, Their side, Your side, and the Truth. Despite how horrible these big companies can be sometimes the driver is not always innocent in their claims either. The driver believes what they believe and the company does what the company does its not always right on either side and many times the truth gets omitted.

This is true, and I will state that when Werner was in better situation with loads, I was very happy there. And should they call me and say hey we want you to come back, I'd certainly seriously consider and most likely do it.
