Oh and yes, I just signed up with the Cummins Quickserve about a month ago and totally forgot about it. Might have been able to find this issue faster. Thanks for reminding me about it.

Ok seems my issue might be back. I just cannot figure this out. Any advice would be appreciated before I go insane. So here it is. I went out for a haul with a fellow driver. He seemed to read me on my cb just fine when we were real close leaving the factory where we had loaded our mobile homes to transport. When we got onto the road I heard him just fine on my radio but he evidently did not hear me. After about 15 minutes he called my cell phone and said he hears me but he cannot understand what I am saying. And I think I mentioned in an earlier post that sometimes when I key up my CB my regular radio seems to go whacky. It will change from the tuner over to the USB or another mode. Just recently I ran a brand new power wire so the CB had its own dedicated power wire. Still the same thing. The batteries are only about a year old. 4 of them. I have had 3 different alternators on there. I have replaced most of the ground wires and made sure they were all cleaned. Just today after I started the truck it showed only 12.4 at the alternator. I turned on all the lights to put a load on the system and still the same. Then rev'd the engine up 2 times real quick and came back now to find 14.4 at alt. I just cannot figure out what is going on here. Does the starter have something to do with this issue? I tried to trace the wires from the alt over and thought they went over to the starter but had problems matching up the wires. We are getting a snow storm here now in Jersey, but as soon as it clears I guess I will have to do a continuity test to trace them. Anyone have any ideas what the heck could be going on here? I need to get this issue fixed when I can.

Here's a few thoughts.
Does that alternator work with an external regulator? The alternator generates the energy but the regulator dictates how much energy is sent out.
You could try mounting your CB on rubber isolators and running a complete and total separate ground.
Pull your fuses and check them. Check all your light bulbs your headlights marker lights tail lights stop lights. Sometimes bulbs can make a short.
You could install a light to make sure the alternator is excited- Google it
Also make sure that if there are any wires that go to your alternator that are not in a plug- check the wires in the plug also make sure there is a good connection- but if you have the type of alternator that the wires can get mixed up be very careful with that because the alternator will not excite.
Also take your ignition switch out and look at all the connections behind it. You can have it bad wire at the back or maybe the switch itself is causing problems and going bad.
If you encounter another situation that the truck will not start then find the starter solenoid and jump it there. That way you can tell whether your problem is electricity to the cab or electricity from the battery to the starter.
And I realize your batteries are newer but it's possible you could have a bad battery. That does happen sometimes.
If you figure it out let us know.HopeOverMope Thanks this.
